Not bad, but I won't be using them much longer
They sound fine and the mic is okay.I previously had a Turtle Beach Earforce X12 and that headset blows this one out of the water. Granted I picked this one up on sale for about $20 less, that isn't enough of a difference to not immediately notice the shortcomings here. The in-line controls part was not completely clear to me, thus leading to disappointment when I found that there was no volume control on the headset. This means that adjustment on the fly is impossible. As someone who uses different sound cards, that can be very frustrating. I have to go into the mixer and change it from there making this quite an inconvenience. For what retails for $100, originally, I expected a bit more. The build quality is incredibly solid, but you can tell that it is very plastic. Them being foldable might be the only that saves them in the case of a fall. The ability to plug into either side is very convenient. They look excellent, though. I have an NZXT Phantom case that is white with black and red accents. Even though I don't play GW2 anymore (only lasted two months before boredom took over), this headset matches and looks terrific. They are comfy, but after a while (3 - 5 hours) they become a bit uncomfortable. I normally prefer headsets that go entirely around the ear, but took a shot on these because people said they were very comfy. Don't get me wrong, they are fine for a bit. Extended gameplay sessions might require a different headset.I'm just going to get another pair of Turtle Beach... the same kind I had before. These were a fine headset, but not for me. I will hand them down to my wife who will just use them for music or keep them for my son, who original snapped the earcup off of my last headset. They get 3 stars for looking gorgeous, sounding good and being exactly what they were marketed as.

Nice design, good sound, and inexpensive for a gaming headset.
- I just want to note that when you first open the box, you might notice the headphones look a bit dirty. This is due to the packaging and can easily be wiped off.I purchased this headset to go with my new PC, as my old set was a pair of Skullcandy headphones I picked up at an outlet store. I wasn't sure how they would compare to my old headphones, but I was pleased to learn they were a major improvement. They're a beautiful set of headphones and I love that they fold up. This is my first pair of SteelSeries headphones and they're probably the best pair of inexpensive headphones I've purchased. The design is nice and they're easy to store. The sound quality is excellent and considering they're a gaming set, they excel in video games. They work just fine for listening to music or watching videos, but sound superb in games. I tried these out in a few different MMOs. Some games I preferred to play without the sound or music, due to the fact that the sounds became an annoyance rather than a satisfying accompaniment to the gameplay. With this headset, I've been enabling sound in all of my games. There's just something about them that makes the sound more immersive and satisfying. The microphone works fine and took me a bit to configure. My computer's mic volume was turned far too low and so my initial testing was frustrating and my voice was so faint that I feared it was the mic, but it wasn't. I've never used a headset with this sort of microphone setup, so this is new for me. The headset is a bit tight, but I think most headsets I've owned were this tight at first and took some time to adjust.Even if you're not a fan of Guild Wars 2, the headphones are a nice investment. I'm considering buying a second pair as backup and a third to give as a gift.

Inconsistent, Overpriced, and Overrated
Ignore the reviews - over half of them are fake! Verified with a D rating on fakespot.TLDR: Pros - Excellent bass, full soundboard, very comfortable. Cons - Highly inconsistent sound quality, no noise cancellation, sound leaking, does not properly form around your head, lacks surround sound. Perspective-based - Very long wiring, jack is split into two for mic and audio.---These have been the most inconsistent pair of headphones I've ever used. The sound quality is different across genres, and even inside a genre! Seemingly arbitrarily, some songs sound fine, while others sound awful, even if it is in the same genre as the ones that sound fine. I wonder if it has something to do with the encoding or filetype of the audio file it is listening to?I've noticed a trend where (most) rock, piano, and dance/electronic music sound great, while violin and pop don't fair so well. There is a complete soundboard present, but it lacks focus and depth. Most music sounds fuzzy and blurred. The highs sound better than the lows but they are not crisp and sharp like they should be, leaving a muddied sound. The audio is only present on the forward/mid portion of your skull, not including the back which would have made it a properly immersive 3D sound experience. So instead, it just sounds hollow and fake. The one credit I'll give these is that it has superb, booming bass. They are comfortable but offer no noise cancellation or isolation whatsoever. Using it in the trains is terrible and impossible. Sound leaks through the padding and everyone can hear what you hear. The wiring is VERY long, and the jack is split into separate audio and mic wires, which I find particularly annoying. This feature alone makes it impossible to use in public/transport/on the go.The mic is clunky and big, but works. The headphones do not conform around your head properly and protrude from your skull in an obtuse fashion, making it extremely awkward to wear in public.I got these when they were on sale for $19, and I regret purchasing them, even for that cheap. A majority of headphones I've used in this price range fair much better. These are DEFINITELY not worth $60+, so save your money, and find a better pair of headphones elsewhere.
