While I know enough to do anything I often know just enough to be dangerous. While not a professional rigger I do know about safety margins and correct application for a job.....unfortunately I overlooked this when I bought the same swedges out of aluminum from Lowes. DANGEROUS, built a lifting sling out of 3/16" SS wire for my 10' X 130lb inflatable boat with aluminum swedges in Salt Water and it barely lasted two years. Galvanic corrosion caused a huge loss in strength real fast. Fortunately had a friend in town who is a professional rigger who saw this and he said get the right solution i.e. these zinc plated copper swedges. We cut the old one's off with a hacksaw and upgraded to these new swedges and I have a higher degree of confidence these should last a LONG time. No harder to install then aluminum but due use a crimp gauge to ensure you crimp them enough....my tool needed to be tightened to get the correct crimp diameter.

Swage worked well with my 316 stainless 0.125” cable using a IWISS wire rope crimping tool . We will see how my life line connections fair over time in a marine environment.

Used them on stainless steel 1/4" wire rope and they worked just fine. They are a bit of a pain to crimp but that has more to do with the crimper than the actual sleeves 😀Would definitely buy again if needed!
