This is a beautiful and very well made knife. It is very sharp on both edges. I would have given it 5 stars if the retention hole that you put your finger through was a little bigger. My pinky finger fits in the hole, but it is a little too small for my index finger. The knife is made so that it can be held either way, but I use my index finger in the retention hole. The hole is a little smaller than a quarter, and I need one with a hole big enough for a quarter to pass through. If you don't have huge hands like me, this knife will be perfect for you. I can put it in my left hand and my finger fits, but my right hand is bigger. If you don't use the finger hole, then you have no worries. This is such a beautiful and fully functional battle knife that I am going to keep it and grind the finger hole just a little bigger to fit my fat finger. The Damascus steel is real Damascus and very thick. It comes sharp out of the box. I highly recommend this knife, but if you have big hands, it will need a little work to get the proper finger fit. Don't let this review discourage you because if you are an average size person, the fit will be perfect, and it is difficult to find such a well made Damascus steel Karambit knife, especially for this price.
