Amazing guitar for such a low price
For $99.99 I was just hoping that the guitar would be playable. When i finally recieved it i was stunned. When you buy guitars for cheap you can always expect problems but this guitar is absolutely flawless. it came already professionally set up and the action is perfect for my liking, low and fast! It also came with a hex key for the truss rod, a cord, a battery for the on-board EQ, and a soft case for the guitar itself. I was originally going to purchase a much more expensive fender acoustic electric but I am so soooo glad that I went with the Kalos. The only con i can find is the on-board EQ is certainly not the greatest. But the guitar sounds so rich and beautiful unplugged. I am more than satisfied with this purchase and I will buy from Kalos again in the future and I would recommend this guitar to anyone on a budget who wants a quality built instrument for their money.

Not the prettiest but sounds good.
For $70, I wasn't expecting much.First, the bad: When the guitar arrived, there was a good amount of damage to the finish as well as the headstock, the pickguard and electronics were not as pictured, the battery wires were disconnected and the battery was inside the guitar banging around. Based on these things, I started a return to get my money back. After a few days of not having the chance to repackage and send back, I took another look at the guitar. The thing that annoyed me about the electronics was that it did not have a battery compartment so you would have to remove all 4 screws to change the battery. Reconnecting the wires will be an easy fix with my soldering iron and I won't have to change the battery often so I will deal with the annoyance. Also didn't really care that the pickguard was a different shape than pictures (just wanted to point it out). I decided to tune it and try it out. I was surprised on how great the action was on this guitar. I also tested every fret and string and no dead frets (unusual for such an inexpensive guitar)! After strumming a few chords and hearing how great the guitar sounded, I was conflicted on what to do with it. Ultimately, I decided to keep it and have played it for about four hours today. It is not the prettiest and one of the most inconvenient setups ever to change the battery but it sounds great for $70 and is fun to play. Even the strings that came on it stayed in tune after all that playing. If you are expecting a perfect instrument, do not buy this. If you want a good practice axe or something to back up a much more expensive performance guitar (which is why I bought this one) then you may want to consider one of these.Update: I fixed the battery component and the hole for the preamp was too small to put it back with the battery on it! Unbelievable! Now I am going to have to cut a larger hole or order a new preamp that I won't have to mess with like this. Probably the latter. Still a giant pain in the butt.

do not waste your money
Within a month of purchase the guitar began to fall apart, beginning with the tightening keys. Another lesson to us all to buy quality equiptment and enjoy music. Good instruments have resale value, this thing was a waste of a hundred bucks, let alone frustration.

It's what you might expect for $100 electric acoustic
My guitar was shipped and packaged very nicely. Out of the box, the guitar was unplayable. The problem was once i got it tuned up, i had to adjust the truss rod to even play any chords on the lower frets, and all frets past the 7th fret fretted out completely - no note sounded at all. I actually had to raise the bridge (which is not adjustable) so basically had to do major Luthier work to make this guitar playable. I thought about returning it but went ahead and raised up the bridge with a small wood piece in the bridge slot, now the guitar plays pretty nicely, with all notes sounding. There is definitely an overall cheap feeling to the guitar. The wood looks decent, but there was wood shards in the acoustic chamber and nothing really feels too sturdy. The onboard EQ is not so great - sounds better with frequencies cut out. Still, i plan to use this as a backup for acoustic gigs - should do the job OK i think. It does seem to stay in tune OK, but again, only after a serious setup.I would not recommend this guitar to a beginner as you will need a pro setup to get it playable. For a seasoned player, it may be a decent backup, but i would spend another $50 for a step up in quality. Not so great, but useable, and all the features of a "real guitar" are here.

A lot of guitar for a little bit of money!
I have been playing guitar since 1966; I usually play folk music and amplify the guitar and banjo with a microphone. I have a new gig lined up that needs an acoustic/electric guitar. I found this and decided the price was right; I had low expectations but found myself pleasantly surprised. The quality of the build is amazing. The neck is straight, and the intonation is right on all the way up the neck. The action is surprisingly good and it has nice bass and treble when played unamplified. The on-board electronics were the big surprise to me. The three-band equalizer and volume control are handy, and I was able to get a very realistic acoustic sound when I plugged it into my PA system. One reason I avoid acoustic/electric guitars is the "quacky" sound that I hear so often at performances; this guitar avoids that sound. The guitar was much darker "in person" than in the photo, but that is quite alright by me; I actually prefer it. The placement of the guitar jack surprised me, since most A/E guitars have the jack in the end-pin, but I found this placement actually makes it easier when the guitar goes on the stand. The only complaint I have is that the "rosette" is nothing more than a decal; I think it would have looked better without it.I would highly recommend this guitar for anyone looking for an entry-level acoustic/electric guitar.
