Game Boy Color - Limited Pokemon Edition - Yellow [video game]

I was reading that a lot of people are going back to the more traditional handheld systems, ie early Gameboy models, and I remembered how much I loved my own. I haven't been able to put it down since it arrived! I got mine used, which is definitely the way to go. Yes, most of the used Gameboys have minor wear and tear, but to pay for a brand new one.. well you're just wasting your money. Some of the reviews about the Berry color said they thought it would be more red - I'm actually surprised it's not more pink! I thought it would be closer to the item's image color on this listing, but when mine arrived, it was actually a shade or two darker. So if you want a bold red color, I'm afraid this will be close but no cigar. On the other hand, if you're like me, and enjoy pink, then go for it! For those who've never owned a Gameboy Color before, it doesn't have the best screen resolution, or that large of a color palette. It was made in 1998, so a lot of consoles nowadays have more resolution and a much more varied color scheme. It is a little gem of the past and shouldn't be berated for "outdated" things that we take for granted. The system runs on two AA batteries that seem to last forever. Volume goes up to a reasonable level, and there is a headphone jack on the bottom for those who like to use earbuds and such. Overall, I absolutely love this product. I would recommend buying a few games, definitely Pokemon, and for the classic gamer, Tetris and Super Mario. Nothing can replace a classic treasure like this, especially at a low price like some of the used ones.

I grew up when this game and Game Boy system both caame out, and I recieved them as a birthday present. Then through the years I played it, lost it, played it again, got frustrated, lost it again, found it and got addicted, and finally beat the Elit Four. Then I lost it again and decided to by another set so I could go back to my youth and remember the innocence of that time. Honestly, the concept of a Pokemon edition Gameboy with a game modeled after the TV show/comic book is rather creative, and the strategic abilities it teaches kids is valuable to kids' learning curves. I have read others state that there is not enough difference between Yellow and Red/Blue to warrant another game, but I would argue that the familiar story line to the show, where the kids can enact their favorite Ash and Pikachu, and also get the three basic Pokemon (Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle) for free is well worth it. I would recomend this game as a fairly innocent way to show kids that they have to strategize sometimes to solve problems, and also to work towards something they want. I also like the game period--as one who's definately not a gamer, it appeals to me. GO PIKACHU!

I like the gameboy color because its a nice size, and this one had the battery cover in the same color as the body, which is nice because I hear the battery cover falls off of some, but you can get replacements. the only thing I didn't realize when I purchased is that the screen is not backlit, so you need a good light source when you are playing, i.e. the screen doesn't light up so you can't play in the dark. the screen on this one was in pretty good condition, it had some minor shallow scratches, but doesn't hinder playing at all and they could probably be buffed out with some toothpaste or something, but they don't bother me so I have just left them.

first off i am still glad i bought this gameboy! i love it. However i wish it didnt come with so many scrathces and also it had left over sticker residue on the battery cover. It could have arrived in a better shape. also the volume knob might have a short because when i plug in my headphones into the system and i mess with the volume it fades from left to right ear with an annoying sound. Its a minor detail though. also the speaker is not very loud at all, like its super quite. not sure if its because of my batteries and i just need to replace them. I still love it thought! great color! feels great in your hands. off to go save Zelda!

The first thing you need to know is that the physical color of this console does not matter unless you have a preference. All that matters is the condition of whatever console you are considering to order. Make sure you check the product description and probably in addition contact the seller to inquire as to whether you are getting a console that is in the claimed condition. Now, about the Nintendo Gameboy Color, it is not backlit so you have to have light when playing. Also many of the games have internal batteries that need to be replaced every few years in order for the game to save your progress (such as on Pokémon or a similar game). Also to replace the batteries of these games you need a very unique screwdriver but there's about 200 different offers for them on amazon alone. I'm not saying this purchase is not worthwhile, I personally think the Nintendo Gameboy Color is amazing despite my fondness for more modern devices such as my 3ds. Because it is not backlit, it will take some getting used to if you are used to playing a more modern Nintendo system, but it's definitely worth it in my opinion. The colors are not as prominent as in any old ads you would find, but there are basic tones. It is very flat and two-dimensional to me, but I had been playing a 3ds for a few months before purchasing mine so it may just be that I've grown accustomed to a three-dimensional screen. The batteries, depending on the brand of course, do not get used up very fast on account that the console is not backlit, and the console requires only two AA's.

I do like this product. I do however have some suggestions that can help you fetch a little more money with a little more clean up. There was a black scuff mark on the front, I took some watered down vinegar and that came right off. Other than the few scratches kids do get on their toys, it is a ok game with me so far. I just have gotton it today, along with my Shadowgate Classic game! They were why I wanted each of them. They fit together! lol... Well, I am a happy granny, and ty. OH< SORRY, BUT WHEN SHIPPING BATTERIES SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED. fOR BOTH SAFETY REASONS OF POST OFFICE SCANNERS AND THE GAME COMING ON AND BEING POSSIBLY DAMAGED.... TWO... It cost more weight to ship.... for you, poss me..... just some advice esp. about the damage part though.

I was surprised when my son asked me for a Game Boy. This was a toy of my youth and given the fact he has all the modern video game consoles, a GB seemed like we were stepping way back in history! The GB was exactly as described. It had only slight scratches and still had the original screen protector intact! It worked right out of the box and we've had no problems at all with it or any of the cartridges we have used. My son has had a lot of fun playing with this and it's been nice to see him transition away from the computer, iphone and game consoles to play this. Great investment and has provided many hours of laughter/joy within our home.

I’m not going to lie, I was skeptical that I would get any vintage video game or console on here worth the money, but this purchase proved me wrong. Overall, it’s in excellent shape and functions well. Is it perfect, no, but then again only being about a decade and a half older myself, I’m not perfect either! I took it out of the box, gave it a quick once over, popped in Super Mario Land, and it was like I was back in middle school again. I can’t speak that all will be this satisfying, but it’s clear the seller takes pride in the products they sell.

Game boy works and has scratches on screen but they are limited but it’s expected as it’s an old game console. Finally have a piece of my childhood back. Great seller and fast shipping too thank you! 😊
