The LG 34WL85C-B 34 Inch 21:9 UltraWide™ QHD IPS Curved Monitor with HDR10 has a native resolution of 3440 x 1440 and it supports a maximum resolution of 3440 x 1440 @ 60Hz. It does not support 5120 x 1440. 3440 x 1440 is an Aspect Ratio of 21:9 so any video image that you display on the monitor that does not have that aspect ratio will have black bars to maintain the aspect ratio so that images do not look stretched or distorted...^IFV

Q: Auto brightness? my screen lights up a bit brighter when viewing videos. is this a feature the monitor comes with? how do i set it on/off?

Your owner's manual for the LG 34WL85C-B 34 Inch 21:9 UltraWide™ QHD IPS Curved Monitor with HDR10 does not show the monitor as having an Auto Brightness setting but it does have a Smart Energy Saving feature that can be disabled from within the settings menu in the monitor under 'General' (Settings > General > Smart Energy Saving - page 21 in your owner's manual)...^IFV

You will need to download and install LG's On-Screen Control (OSC) software on your PC/Laptop from the support page for the LG 34WL85C-B 34 Inch 21:9 UltraWide™ QHD IPS Curved Monitor with HDR10 which will give you different Screen Split options and use one of the five 3 Screen Split options...^IFV
