Well made and lots of fun BB gun
Always wanted one as a kid; Mom said no! Well, set a thin plastic target at 15'. Wife and I punched a hole in it with every shot. The adult model was light enough for my tiny wife to handle. Perfect size for me too. I took 4 shots at a wind chime about 45' away. Held at the top of the chime and got 4 rings. BB probably dropped 4 - 5". Pretty accurate out of the box. Plenty of power, plenty of fun. I make more noise when I sneeze than this gun makes. And, no Mom, I didn't shoot myself in the eye.

Good old Daisy comes through
I grew up with Daisy BB guns shooting minnows in our backyard canal, and 60 years later I bought my second one for different reasons. I now have a farm with lots of livestock, including two new Great Pyrenees dogs that I am about to let loose from their fenced area. However, I know that they will be going after our chickens right away. This BB gun will hopefully work fine to discourage them from attacking the chickens without hurting them more than just a little sting. My neighbor uses one and encouraged me to get one. It was easy to open the package and load BBs. It says it holds 650 BBs, and it's probably right. I stopped loading after about 100 or so. The loading process is simple enough, but I need to find a better way. Pouring the BBs from the bottle spout doesn't work well. The BBs get clogged at the small opening. It seemed to work better by pouring BBs into my hand and cupping it just right over the loading spot. Cocking it is simple and sweet. I held the rifle upwards and cocked it, and it loaded and fired every time. You can cock it with or without the safety on, and it both loads and fires perfectly either way. I fired my first shot at a plastic bucket about 25 feet away, and it hit it and bounced off. I fired many more and hit the target. I tried firing about 50 feet, and the ballistic curve is somewhat significant. I'm not an expert, but I would guess that at 50 feet the BB dipped at least an inch. At 350 fps, I'm guessing that's about right. Somewhere between .5 inch and 1.5 inch at 50 feet. I plinked at plastic buckets, plywood sheets, metal poles, and a doghouse metal roof. The BBs all bounced off. I got a good indication of the actual force of the BB when I hit the metal pole. Just like astronomers use the intensity of light to measure star distances, the intensity of the ping sound of the BB on the pole about 10 feet away was an indication of the energy of the BB. It was quite a ping. I would not want to be hit by one of these from 10 feet away. This gun, at this price, is definitely worth the money. I recommend it to anyone looking to own a good BB gun that will perform.

Iconic…don’t shoot your eye out!!
Adult size is nice. Big kid toy for camping. Fun, fun, fun. Low velocity; not a pellet gun so lower your expectations. Price is competitive. Fast shipping. Updated after 500 rounds: Inconsistent shot flight. From a rest, bbs pattern left, right, high or low at close ranges. Shoots much different than the other gun I have…which is the same model. Afraid this one’s a dud.

Service is good
I purchased 2 Daisy Adult Red Ryder bb rifles. They were shipped quickly. Unfortunately 1 of them had a damaged barrel and front sight. I called Daisy who sent me new sight. I hadn’t realized the barrel was also damaged. I will contact Daisy to get directions on what to do. I know they will do the right thing. I don’t think the Daisy was damaged by the seller as the box was not damaged and the shipping box was not damaged. So who knows what or when

Indoor plinking greatness
Unlike many reviewers here, I never had a Daisy Red Ryder carbine when I was a kid, so I can't really compare the quality of the old models to these new ones. I've always admired the history of the Red Ryder BB gun and its significance in the air gun world (and its connection with A Christmas Story of course). This adult size Red Ryder is just pure fun. From the moment you open the nicely illustrated box to the satisfying cock of the lever and first trigger pull, you won't regret buying one of these. The adult size Red Ryder is slightly longer than the standard version and it has a thicker stock which makes the gun feel more substantial. Also, the cocking lever on this one is all-metal which is a nice touch. I am not sure if these features alone justify the higher price tag from the standard version, but they're nice additions. The overall fit/finish on the one I received is great and the wood is beautifully stained for a BB gun made in China. The gun shoots fairly accurately although the windage on mine is slightly off, but I can usually hit what I am aiming at just fine by using a bit of Kentucky windage. It's nowhere near as powerful as a pellet gun, but the Red Ryder will penetrate through a couple layers of cardboard within 10 meters, so it definitely has some punch. All in all, a great product that will provide hours of fun and plinking enjoyment, either indoors (which is what I do) or out in the backyard on a sunny afternoon.

Memories are priceless
I got this for my parents who are both in there mid 60's and there reaction was wonderful. My dad had a Red Rider as a kid and watching him shoot while talking about his childhood I could never put a price on, he wound up wearing out his childhood model and taking it apart to fix it at the ripe old age of 11. As for the gun itself its well made , hefty , easy to use and has enough power to be fun but to much. Over all a great buy that more kids and adult kids should have.
