It's a toy.
It's a toy, not a real slurpee machine... Which is why I'm kind've disappointed with it, but let's be reasonable. For the price, would you really hope for a Slurpee machine you can leave on 24/7 and get drinks from? It's what I wanted, but this is unrealistic if only because it's battery operated...It's extremely loud, too. That's bad.But let's be realistic, how does it make Slurpees? Well... If you follow the instructions, and do it correctly, it actually makes an amazing slurpee that tastes great and has a nice consistancy! It's not the same as a real slurpee, but let me explain.I used arctic green apple kool'aid to make my Slurpee. My result was a frozen drink that was soft, and very much like the consistancy of wet snow. I think that explains it best, honestly.. It's like a cup of wet snow that is wonderfully flavored. Not entirely thick, or watery, but both. Not icey, but snowy. It tasted wonderful. I would love to use this to make drinks all the time, but...The fact that it's loud, only makes one cup at a time, can't be left on 24/7 like a real slurpee machine, and is battery operated.. Well, that ruins it for me.But it does what it advertises too, and I have to keep remembering it's just a toy.So yeah, it does what it says it'll do. I think us Slurpee fans just want a little bit more, though...

DO NOT BUY THIS!!
Do not buy this slurpee maker, we received ours and we were so excited to try it out. After putting the 4 C batteries in, and reading the instructions we crushed the ice, measured out the table salt and added the warm water and the liquid we would be using, by the time this was all done the crused ice had already stared to melt, plus trying to fit everything back together so you can turn it on took forever. The lid does not fit tight enough so it kept turing off and you had to put the lid back on. It takes 12oz of liquid and only makes one slurpee at a time that is if you can even get it to make a slurpee ours just made really cold soda. We even left it on after the recomended 5 to 8 min. This is a big rip off, save your money and put it towards the real slurpees.

Slurping good time
My son got this for Christmas and has been making slurpys every day. He read the instructions and followed the directions himself with much of no help from me.

Not the greatest
This was to bring a piece of home to deployment without costing too much or being difficult to transport. So far I haven't been able to make the machine achieve the desired product. Albeit I only tried once, after wasting an hour washing parts, then crushing ice and trying to figure it out, I'm not exactly hyped to try it again. I would say this is a bust. If you are at a residence, get something a little bigger and better. This only is supposed to transform one can of soda at a time. It was a little disheartening.

Lot's of fun for a toy.
There are a lot of pieces and definitely some instructions to follow when it comes to setting up this machine. We bought this some time ago and it has lasted through several play times. The slurpees it produces are a good quality and my kids enjoy it immensely. The biggest downside is the noise, it is quite loud. For a fun afternoon with the family, I would recommend it.

we love it
My 7-year old was so excited to get this, we had to stop gift-opening and put it together immediately. It works perfectly...IF you follow the instructions to the letter and be patient while it's mixing. It requires salt, but the salt doesn't get dumped into your slurpees as one reviewer suggests. The salt is required to create the chemical reaction to generate the slushee/slurpee effect. Everything (ice, warm water & salt) must be added exactly as instructed or it won't work. If you try to rush it, it won't work. We've got it down to a science, and both my kids love it!

We Made Real Slurpees!!
My daughter got this for her 10th birthday. She did most of the assembly herself...she followed the directions, which were detailed and easy to follow. When she was almost done, I checked it over and we are now able to make real Slurpees in UNDER 5 minutes. It does take some practice and common sense, but honestly after the first time, my daughter can do it all by herself now. Cleanup is just removing the canister from the unit, empty the ice water and rinse everything off.True it doesn't make much, but she was able to have a 6 oz cup and share the rest with her brother, and that is more than enough of the HIGH sugar drinks in my opinion. They get their treat and are satisfied, it's fun to make once you know what you're doing. It works very fast and so far seems quite sturdy. I have no complaints other than where to put the thing (thats my tiny kitchen's fault). If you can follow directions well, you can have your Slurpees at home!
