EASY PEASY to Get the Hang of,.... GREAT RESULTS in my Clay & Sandy soil locations
I've researched & tried quite a few manual edgers for use around flower beds & sidewalks. Most were semi-circles or straight square blades. Some had saw tooth edges to supposedly cut thru small roots & other were smooth. In all situations, using them in moist soil is best,... like after a modest rain or even a downpour & muddy soil. In mud the square blade obviously goes into the soil but roots easily stop progress.Surprisingly the saw tooth blade with a shaft in the middle really didn't do much better at all. All those required placing my foot on the right side then on left side to push blade into the soil. The creates a rocking motion on one side then the other. This does not work very well at all.But the Garden Weasel is diff. Foot goes into the middle & all the power is transferred straight downward with no side rocking motion. CHOP! It goes right thru soil & slices thru roots much better & I have great results. All my power & weight it planted downward right in the center of the blade,... smart engineering. This makes it easy to create a good edge line. TIP: after stomping down I usually wiggle it sideways a couple times, & wiggle front to back to loosen up the blade for easy removal & placement for the next stomp,... but not so much to use it as a shovel. It's an easy technique to learn. If I run into a big root this Weasel edge chopper can't go thru then I get out the my battery powered saw e.g right tool for the right application. When edging sidewalks I do my edge line close to the cement like an inch or less tp minimize the amount of dirt removal hassle,... unless you like the trench look! After cutting the edge I peal out the narrow strip of dirt/grass by easily pulling out the 1 inch strip or using a straight blade shovel to peal out the strip easy peasy!Usually I stomp the full depth the blade allows,... & that's easy to do. If you're having trouble getting a fuller depth cut, then check your soil conditions eg lits of rocks,.... too dry, etc.. Also if you experiment a little bit with your stomping angle you'll be able to make your edge strips very easy to peal out!BOTTOM LINE: This will last a Lifetime. Simple, effective, SMART engineering.EASILY EARNS: *****-FIVE-***** Stars.

Edger
Fantastic product. We thought it was like anything else, good picture but junk when you receive it! In this case it was not true, very sturdy and makes edging very easy, even when your doing it for fist time or maintaining.

Garden Weasel
Easy to use but works better in softer ground. Pretty nice tool but a little overpriced.

Very sturdy
Worked great to get bricks up higher up as they had sunk down in the ground over years

Handy tool for edging.
I'm relatively new to gardening but this edger is very easy to use and has really smartened up my lawn edges next to the sidewalk and along the driveway. I've also used it around some shrubs to stave off the creeping grass that we have here in South Carolina. It's a light tool but goes into the ground fairly easily with foot pressure. The blade is sharp enough to cut through quite a bit of grass on its way into the earth. Afterwards, the severed grass is easy to collect with just a few grass roots needing to be teasing out. It is a bit of a work out, especially in the current heat (90 degrees C), but you can always work in sections. I saw that some of the reviews noted a weak joint where the handle meets the foot arch, but almost all of the weight when I use the tool is on the footplate at the bottom and not with my hands. I use the handle to guide and retract the blade rather than putting any weight on it. Anyway, it works a treat for me.

Easy to use
My husband is thrilled to use this tool to edge our flower beds. He hates to do this job and this will make it easier and take less time!
