Great Product, Hard to Setup, Alignment Tips are in the Review

If you buy one of these to use on your hunting trip the following week, you're going to hate it with a burning passion. If, however, you buy it in the off-season and set it up in your spare time, by the time hunting season comes around you'll never want to be without it. Do not, no matter how bad you want to, refer to youtube videos for advice and direction on how to set this thing up. After finally getting mine perfectly aligned I came to the realization that not a single youtube video other than the manufacturer's had helped me at all. The laser is merely a tool to help with alignment, it's meant to be removed before you go hunting, if you don't you're likely breaking hunting laws by having a laser pointing device on your hunting bow. Where the laser is pointing is an accurate reflection of where the range finder is pointing. Never try to adjust the laser itself, if you do you've just lost your only alignment tool. The provided directions on how to align the laser with the 20 yard pin reads as though it's a simple process. Uh, no. You will be frustrated, take that into account when purchasing. If you're buying during the hunting season and alignment doesn't go smoothly just use it as a seven pin fiber optic sight with IQ Retina on your next hunt. No biggie. Whether or not you have your sight's rangefinder set you'll still need your handheld rangefinder as the only way to use the sight's rangefinder is to be at full draw and aiming with your 20 yard pin. If you're pre-ranging distances that would be an absolute pain. The beauty of this sight is that if you have a sudden target you no longer have to range before drawing, or if your target is moving you can constantly be ranging it before making the shot. With all that being said, here are my alignment tips to make your setup go easier. There is no rotational adjustment on the sight, it's designed to be at 90 degrees from your riser, if you were to be able to adjust it you probably would, doing so would throw off the equation of where the laser and rangefinder align with each other causing even more headache. Be open to using either the farther or nearer mounting holes, you may prefer one or the other but the accompanying elevation change may be necessary for proper alignment. The up-down tilt of the sight is very important, expect to spend a lot of time getting it just right. You'll have no problem having enough directional adjustment of the sight housing, but adjustment of the IQ Retina is limited. If your housing angle is off the IQ Retina will not have enough adjustment to work with it. Ignore the laser alignment target that comes with the sight, it's not necessary. As long as the laser matches up to the aiming of your 20 yard pin at an 80 yard target you're set. If you're shooting at 3D targets past 80 yards you'd want to use a handheld rangefinder anyway, and hunting animals of any kind past 80 yards is a no-go. Speaking of the whole "20 yard pin" thing, most people use their top pin for both 10 and 20 yards, my alignment is with the second pin, which is 30 yards. Again, not a big deal. The second pin allows more clearance from the housing making it easier to align with my target. I use the stop sign at the end of my street to check the alignment. I aim the second pin at the sign, the laser centers the sign, and the rangefinder reads 80 yards. Works perfectly.

Well worth the time of setup

Product was as described. Harder to setup then any site I have bought in the past but well worth it. Will recamend to all.

Overall decent sight.

This sight was more difficult than a normal sight but not too bad to install. I found the rangefinder to be hard to use after realizing my bow shot very flat from 15-23yds and therefore not needing the 20yd pin that the rangefinder used to calibrate off of.Also the sight is very heavy overall, but in fast shot situations it made me more accurate no doubt. The pins are also a bit larger than I prefer. My favorite part hands down is the retina lock. I tend to tweak my bow slightly when my fingers rest against the GoPro I also have mounted under it. With the retina lock I never have that issue anymore. It made target shooting a fun time in a group with how accurate and consistent it made me.

Great light and range finder

I bought this sight for several reasons. I already had a 7 pin IQ micro so I knew the quality was good. I wanted a 7 pin sight with a built in pin light with easy battery replacement and a battery that would last and built in range finder. When I first set it up I over thought it. After I had the laser light set up properly I then re-sighted in my 20 yard pin as I was supposed to, but then I made the mistake to try and re-sight in the laser. Once I corrected this the range finder works great and is as accurate as my hand held range finder at least out to 70 yards(my maximum practice shooting distance). The pin light is the best I've ever used. Great sight especially in low light and great range finder when at full draw and deer suddenly move 20 yards away.

Bad Design. Not Solid. Needs Total Re-Design. Calibration Nightmare.

I bought this with great anticipation – a range finder built into my IQ bow sight. Great! Not great at all. First things first. A $500 sight should be 2nd and 3rd axis adjustable. This is not. The manufacturer considers the elevation and windage adjustment to be two axes. They consider the 3rd axis to be what others consider to be the 2nd axis: the leveling of the sight housing/extension arm to the bow riser. There is NO 3rd axis adjustability. The sight housing does not have any adjustment ability to rotate towards the riser or away from it. Let me repeat: there is NO 3rd axis adjustability. This incorrect and misleading information needs to be removed from the package, or make it so.Here’s the really bad part. It takes THREE separate, lengthy steps to get this thing ready to hunt. One must first sight in the 20-yard pin. That takes care of step one. Then, one must make sure the laser is coincident with the 20-yard pin. This requires moving set screws to align them that destroy the 20-yard pin adjustments just completed. This is a known part of the process and is specifically prescribed in the instructions. Once the laser is coincident with the 20-yard pin, that completes step two. Then, one must re-sight in the 20-yard pin like you completed in step one. Yes. One must do it again, because the adjustments made in step two erase the progress from step one. After all that, only then is one ready to sight in all the rest of the pins in this sight.Even after all that, the extension arm on which all this stuff sits is NOT rock-solid and I feared it would be too easy out in the field to bump and then render inaccurate. This is a vulnerability of the IQ sights – they are micro-wiggly when fully torqued down. If anything gets misaligned, the laser won’t point at the right spot and range properly, thus making it useless for its very expensive intended purpose. By the way, this thing CANNOT be recalibrated in the field because the visible red laser needs to be used and you’ll NEVER see this thing outdoors as needed.I am a mechanically inclined, technologically sophisticated consumer. After a couple hours of messing with this thing, I decided the frustration and ill-thought-out design just wasn’t worth my trouble. I returned it and bought someone else’s excellent non-range finding sight. This thing is NOT ready for prime time, that’s for sure.
