They are also fascinating insects in their own right. Millions of ants live around the world. They live underground, in trees, inside thorns, or in nests they build themselves. Each colony usually has a single queen with thousands of workers (always female) to gather food and take care of the larvae and pupae. Ants also provide food for other animals and aerate the earth aiding plant growth. Some ants even grow wings that allow them to fly off to start new colonies. Being a National Geographic book, the photographs in this book are gorgeous and very informative. They show ants gathering food, traveling through tunnels, and taking care of the young. The writing is appropriate for new readers with vocabulary words defined in the text in addition to the glossary at the end. The definitions in the glossary also have pictures to aid in understanding, which is a nice feature. The occasional joke adds some humor. The attractive layout makes the book easy to follow. Review: Great for beginning readers! - I love this book! My 4-year-old has been fascinated with ants for a while now, and is starting to read, so I purchased this for his birthday coming up. I think the text and pictures will be great for keeping his interest and providing an opportunity to help him sound out some of the easier words. I'm sure it's going to be a favorite!

Bug Boy Approved!
My 5 y/o grandson is fascinated by bugs. We go on Bug Safaris to watch the bugs and how they live and work (teaching respect for other living creatures). He is especially interested in Ants, but due to size and speed it can be difficult to glean much. So, this book gave him a peek inside, and how the Ants World works. I was pleased with the photos , detail, and facts of the book. We used it as a learning tool which requires an adult reader.

Cute book
Cute book to go with an ant farm present. It’s has nice informative information about ants and it’s has lots of pictures. It’s easy enough for my 7 year old to read on his own. It’s perfect for kids with all the colors and fun facts about ants.

Habia comprado otra revista de esta colección, pero el nivel mas básico, "yo leo, tu lees"; y traia mucho mas texto y paginas que esta revista que es para un nivel mas avanzado. Me descepcionó el poco contenido.
