Really Useful!
Last summer when Hurricane Irene blew through here, we were without power for about six days. I bought a Coleman battery operated lantern to help us get through the week. My house was built in 1893, so it isn't too much of a surprise, I guess, that my bedroom can't take too much power drain. I have the lantern on my bedside table now, and have been using it as a nightlight since then. I've had to change the batteries (4 D Cell) once in that time. Knowing this could happen again, I recently purchased this Rechargeable Battery Pack. I'm pleased as punch, as they used to say. It snapped right into place, a much easier process than changing the batteries. The battery compartment snapped right out; so it's ready when this needs a charge. The lantern was brighter than it was with the batteries. It doesn't seem to have drained at all, and it's been a few weeks. Granted, I don't use it a lot, just a little each night, but it's doing the job I asked of it and doing it well. My next purchase is the Portable Energy Pack that can run on 4Ds or this battery pack. It will keep the cell phones and Kindles running should the power go out again. I'll have to get at least one more of these to be sure I'll always have a fresh one should the power go out for an extended time again. I can see that lantern doing porch duty this summer now that I don't have to buy more D cells all the time.I think this unit that can be used in a lot of different Coleman camping products is a really clever idea, and not just for the consumers. Now Coleman has me wondering what else it powers and whether those items would also be neat new toys. Guess I'll search CPX6...

My rechargeable coleman batteries get their fair share of use ...
My rechargeable coleman batteries get their fair share of use. I get more out of them than the same price in D batteries. That being said, these are lead batteries and not lithium ion. They will hold far less of a charge as time goes on.My old rechargeable has a green light indicating full charge after 20 minutes. If I let it charge for closer to 10+ hours it actually still holds a reasonable charge. After the first 4 hours the light sometimes goes red, indicating that it is in fact still charging.Worth the money if you use and re-use coleman battery stuff. (I use a ceiling fan/light, lantern and charging station.) To get your moneys worth-- you have to USE THE STUFF!!

Don't waste your money!!!!!!!
Amazon really needs to get on the ball and add the zero stars option. This battery is totally garbage. I like an idiot decided to overlook the negative reviews and try it out anyway and now I'm regretting it. The battery worked perfectly at first. Took a charge and lasted a really long time. I used it on the lantern and a charging unit for my cell phones. It worked the whole week camping with no issues. But than we came home. I charged it up fully and left it on the shelf with the lantern and other emergency devices and now a couple months later we are packing up to go for another week camping and this battery is completely dead and won't even think about charging. You plug it in and the green light comes on saying it's fully charged and after 2 days on the charger it still has zero power. All the money I wasted purchasing this is now thrown in the trash and I'm forced to go yet again and bug expensive batteries before our trip in the morning because this junk couldn't last a few weeks on the shelf. Products like this sicken me and I can't believe they are sold to consumers as a functional quality item.

Great power for camping
This is great for camping or when you have to sleep in the back yard because you ate the whole pot of beans and you need to protect your family from noxious gas… 🤢 it’s cheaper than a gas mask!

Works great!
I love the lantern I use this in. This battery gives long lighting times and recharges off 120Volt AC or 12volt DC from a power outlet, making it very nice for long trips. So far I have had no problem with the battery at all!Update 12/09/2015 Used this a lot for construction and camping like every week for hours at a time and it is still going strong. Gave one to my sister as a gift and it is totally dead and useless as they do not bother with recharging it every few months even if not used... One gets what one puts in to things. :)

System is great but performance is a bit lacking
I love the concept of this system, however, the batteries vary a lot in how long they take to charge (a couple to several hours needed to be plugged into the charger) and hold the charge. For example, one of the components of this system is a tent fan. Using the fan on high, the fan will only run for about 4-6 hours on high pending the battery. That's not very useful given you would want it to run for at least 8 to cover the whole night. If these were lithium-ion batteries, they would perform much better even if they came at the higher price. Instead you are stuck with an under-performing battery for Coleman items that run over longer periods of time.

Doesn't last near as long as 4 D alkaline batteries ...
Doesn't last near as long as 4 D alkaline batteries. Charged it up according to instructions. Went through several cycles and then finally gave up and bought some batteries. Had a Coleman 400 lumens lantern (sold only by Walmart) on constantly for 4 days (set on low) in an unused bedroom while I was also testing another lantern, and finally just shut it off and it is still bright on the same batteries today. The rechargeable pack would barely last 12 hours on low setting. This is truly a piece of junk. To Amazon's credit, they gave me a refund, even though the item could not be shipped back to them due to regulations. I don't really understand why, because obviously it was shipped to me in the first place, so why is it against the law for me to ship it back? Whatever, they gave me a refund and I get to keep the battery pack as backup of last resort.
