Protect Your Glass Patio Table and Umbrella Pole
I was visiting my sister and her husband enjoying a meal out on their patio that overlooks a river where they get sudden bursts of wind. I noticed that their brand new patio umbrella was all scratched up on the pole where it fits into the hole of the patio table. The patio table which is glass was also scratched up around the hole where the patio umbrella pole is inserted. I knew instantly that this cool little rubber gadget would protect the pole and the glass table. You would think I had purchased them round trip tickets to Hawaii. I got a call the same day the packaged arrived, they were so thrilled with this simple answer to prevent further damage to their patio furniture. That little wedge was instantly put to use. It stabilized the umbrella pole and the rubber protects the patio glass table from the constant movement of the aluminum pole. It works like a charm and does what it's suppose to do.

I couldn't find a good picture so I wasn't quite sure what I would ...
Interesting device. The plastic ring in my glass top patio table didn't last very long, it just fell apart. I became concerned that the umbrella, moving around because of the wind, would eventually damage the glass. I spent a fair about of time online but could only find replacement plastic rings, and I didn't think these would last long, and this wedge. I couldn't find a good picture so I wasn't quite sure what I would be getting.First off I think it is misnamed, I would call this more of a plug than a wedge (I think of wedges as flat rather than round). This is basically a solid rubber tapered plug with a hole in it. The outside resembles an upside down wedding cake with a lot of layers, this allows the "wedge" to fit into various size table holes. Remove your umbrella and slid the "wedge" over the umbrella pole, with the small layer of the wedding cake pointed down, and re-insert the umbrella in the table. Then slide the "wedge" into the table. I have a standard umbrella, the pole is probably 1.5 inches in diameter, and the hole in the table is 2 inches, maybe a bit more -- works great. Please note that you still need a support for the bottom of the umbrella, this device just protects the table and adds stability to the umbrella.

Really Helps
Excellent product. I put one in the umbrella base and one in the center of the table. Now my umbrella stands straight with no wobble. It was easy to put on. As shown in the picture, it does stick out a little, but it was worth it to keep the umbrella straight. My umbrella base came with several concentric rings to help it adjust to different umbrella diameters. The problem was the concentric rings did not not perfectly make up the difference between the diameter of my umbrella rod and the umbrella base rod so the umbrella rod fit in loosely. Plus the concentric rings would pop out of the base. With the wedge in the base, the wedge takes up all the room between the base and the umbrella rod and it does not pop out.

This item is a car part, not an umbrella wedge
This item, PA20255BK, is a Tire Rod End Dust Boot, not an umbrella wedge. Requested refund. Do not order. Unusable.

They really aren’t universal. Might work great for some umbrellas, but no good for others.
In theory, these things work, but in reality, they’re not practical.I bought a few to use in the umbrella holes in my pool deck. They don’t go down in the hole more than 1.5”, leaving 3”-4” sticking up. I tried putting the cone in the hole first & then pushing the umbrella in.... it just wouldn’t work. I had to push the cone onto the umbrella pole first then manhandle the cone & pole combo to get it to go down even the 1.5” that it did. And then it only steadied the umbrella by a small amount. Not to mention that we like to remove the umbrellas during inclement weather and the cone makes that very difficult to do.I was able to find two sizes of cones, one with a bit harrower bottom, which I bought. Now, maybe there are some really large umbrella holes out there, I don’t know, but this cone is even too large in my table umbrella hole. If they could make some that aren’t so large and cumbersome, I think that more people could benefit from what they’re intended to do... keep an umbrella upright and still in the wind and just generally steady the umbrella.I would not recommend these. I think cutting up an old hose or even using some kind of stiff rubber pieces would do the same thing.

Great product
We purchased a patio table umbrella, once home with the umbrella we discovered that the pole, stand and opening on the table top were too large. The umbrella wouldn't stand up straight,it wobbled loosely. This wedge was the perfect solution!Even I who am not particularly handy was surprised at how well it solved my problem. This was a great value for the money and shipping was very fast!

Should be standard equipment with every umbrella/table
The cheap little plastic ring that came with the table lasted less than a year, so I ordered this and another little cheap ring. The reason I ordered both was that the wedge has a "will ship in two to three months" caveat attached to it. Well, the wedge showed up in a little over a week! So if you are thinking about ordering it, from my experience it will be in your hands quickly. And it works great. Just had a thunderstorm roll through and I left the umbrella up. Umbrella did not move a bit. All tables should come with one as standard equipment. The price is more than double what you would pay for a cheap replacement ring, but considering their life span the wedge is worth it. Very efficient shock absorbing rubber material.

Excellent product
I have had this umbrella wedge for 3 years and it is wonderful. I used to go through so many of those plastic rings that always cracked. The best bonus with this product is that the umbrella pole does not sway in the wind. Well worth the price.

Great product, really steep price
Good quality construction. Not sure how it will hold up over the years. Nice looking glossy black. Removed a star for the price - there's no value at this price point.

The quality of the product and a justifiable price.
Seems to do the trick. Works well on my table which is part of a small set of table and two chairs. Holds umbrella straight.

Too narrow for our umbrella shaft
This didn't fit our umbrella shaft; it was too narrow. Too bad they don't offer a wider one, as the concept is great but returning this and suppose it's back to inserting a folded piece of cardboard between the shaft and table to hold it more steady.
