Makes all the difference
What a relief to find this item. Since she was a little puppy my Maltese-Shih Tzu mix has hated being brushed or getting her nails cut. She would bite and fight me to the point that brushing became an dreaded ordeal. So much so, that I would put it off or do a haphazard job which only made matters worse. This muzzle has been the answer. It has a flap on it so it can cover her eyes if desired. As soon as I put it on her, I was able to brush my dog without having to dodge her attempts to bite. What amazed me the most was that within a very short time, she settled right down and stopped resisting. I looked at other muzzle styles at the pet store and knew they would never work... her snout would slip right out. This muzzle is designed to be used on dogs with a short nose and is easily adjusted to fit. The dog's nose does not need to be as flat as a pug's, just short. Highly recommend.

Wonderful invention
What an amazing and wonderful invention. I have a 6 year old rescue Shih Tzu who is the sweetest baby; however once the clippers come out for his haircut, he turned into Cujo. I have been unable to bring him to a groomer due to his aggression and anxiety to haircuts (specifically his paws). My husband and I have been grooming him ourselves and progressively he has become more and more anxious to where the grooming was as stressful on us as it was on the dog. We were considering purchasing a grooming table with a hook, but came across this muzzle. I just finished grooming him and it was a 360 degree change. At first he was still trying to bite but once he realized he was unable, he submitted and the haircut was done with no anxiety. What would have been a two hour groom, took less than 45 minutes with the muzzle. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone that has a shih tzu or short snout dog with aggression / anxiety issues

"Wild, Feral, think it's a fighting pit bull" pug?
I have two female pugs...The older has some aggression issues concerning dominance. Often she attacks our other pug if she is getting too hyper. This has led to nasty fights, bit tongues, muzzles and tails...not to mention the bitten hands, fingers and arms trying to pull them apart.(and yes, their little pug peg teeth can hurt and break skin to say the least)So after purchasing and using these to calm our pugs down my review is:While they do cover the pugs face, the edging of the top side runs right over our dogs eyes...this has me concerned about future injury to their bulgy eyes, but nothing has happened yet.A pug in a muzzle is a very funny looking thing...they calm down a bit, although they are not happy about the muzzle and do try to remove it...telling them no and just petting them to calm them helps them to understand that when they fight they will have to wear the muzzles till the calm down and can not be aggressive...this has definitely lessened the amount of fights.

Not easy to keep on.
We purchased this mesh muzzle for our Pug to use only when we are trimming her nails. She has a hysterical fit when we trim them. The muzzle didn't stay on very well, she was able to take her front paw and remove the muzzle. We have only used it once, and had to keep tightening it, but we will try again and maybe try to get it to fit a bit tighter next time.

Buy it!
I am a groomer and used this muzzle today for the first time on two angry little Shih Tzus and it worked a charm. These are two of the worst dogs I have ever had the pleasure of grooming. They detest having their nails and ears touched which of course, are two primary reasons people bring their dogs for grooming! In fact, they are so bad that I have to put them on the floor between my legs in order to restrain their body movement. Otherwise, we both would stand the chance of being injured! I fastened the muzzle tightly behind the ears and was able to easily access their ears for cleaning. As their eyes were also covered, they couldn't see me coming for their nails and the whole groom was much more stress free than on previous ocassions. The muzzle stayed in place the entire time. I am very impressed with this product and highly reccommend it to others.

Essentially Useless
I purchased this muzzle for my 19-lb Boston Terrier. Do you see where the muzzle lies over the dog's eyes in the photo? It rested just that way on my Boston, and pressed tightly against her eyeballs so that she had to squeeze them shut. In addition, no matter how much I tightened the muzzle, it easily slipped right off her nose. I was able to adapt it by cutting out eye holes from the plastic mesh and attaching a string between the top of the muzzle and the neck strap, preventing it from slipping off. It works, but, without my re-engineering, it was utterly useless.

My pug took it right off
I bought another muzzle for my pug that my Vet uses but cannot find where it went (maybe my dog hid it lol). I didn’t want to spend too much money on a new one so I bought this one to use until I can find it. Unfortunately it did not work at all for me. Tried twice and both times he easily got it off and bit me. Am too afraid to try again. Maybe if someone helps hold the dog to keep the muzzle on it would be fine. However, I have to test his glucose every 2 hours so this isn’t always possible. The other muzzle stayed on fine so I’m not sure why this one doesn’t but for my pug it simply did not work out.
