Excellent value for good quality paints.
This paint set, which I have seen go from 18 to 14 dollars on Amazon, is an excellent value for 38 paints. The selection of colors is well rounded and useful. As a landscape painter I particularly appreciate the multiple greens. In the first picture I posted (flowers) I hope you can see that the colors are very rich and vibrant. The colors go on the paper with a first application with rich, deep tones. The paint is not at all chalky or flat. In the second picture I posted (mountains) I was attempting to show that these paints will work for landscape en plein air painting. In the third picture I posted I compared these Artsy paints to Daniel Smith watercolor paints painting both wet on wet and wet on dry. The Artsy paint performed well. I blended colors with both Artsy paints and Daniel Smith. (The watermark on the red Artsy sample may be because I went back in to add more color when the paint was drying.) I also tested on this page how Artsy paint would blend with another paint- in this case, Daniel Smith. It blended well. In the final picture I did a color chart. I did not find the color chart Artsy sent with the paints to be accurate for the paints they sent. Finally, on that page I also tested the three waterbrushes they sent. I did some dry brush technique with the middle tree. I found the waterbrushes easy to open and close, and that they worked well. They did not leak. The caps fit securely on the back of the pen when using them. Entirely reasonable brushes! The finger ring to secure the paints while holdng them on your hand is a nice addition. While some people for en plein painting like really little boxes of paints in small tins, that will fit in a shirt pocket- there is no way that you are going to get 38 paint colors into that small of a container. The way the paint set folds and unfolds is clever, and reduces it to the smallest size possible with that many paints. I was surprised how much I liked these paints and consider them to be an excellent value. It feels to me that with the Daniel Smith paints that blending and letting the colors bleed was easier, and that the Artsy paints wanted to set up faster than the Daniel Smith paints did. I found this to be the case notably when I would paint a line to create the shape of the mountains and went back in with water to soften and blend the line. The Artsy paints would blend, but with more effort than what I am used to with Daniel Smith paints. My guess is that if that observation is consistently true that the cause would be in the way the paints were formulated. I am not considering that to be a criticism because the Daniel Smith paints are much more expensive. The flower painting was on Bee paper, the others on Arches.

Great beginner or travel pallet, quality colors! !
The media could not be loaded. The clever design of the pallet allows you to click it open and use the thumb ring to hold it in one hand. I had to make my own color chart as the enclosed one was very inaccurate. (See photo) it was difficult to know the names of the colors from the enclosed chart too. The brushrs are great for travel too with the water reservoir in the handle. Brushes lean easily with a few strokes on a paper towel or sponge. There is no need for water containers. The pans of paint are shallow. I'm not sure there are refills? But great for smaller paintings or travel sketches!

Well worth the $16!!!
I almost past up this set because I already have the swinging style, but I obviously couldn't resist. It is well worth the $16. The little pans are removable. So, you have the option of moving them into a configuration you choose. One of my pans cracked because I wasn't really being careful with thin plastic pans.Make a swatch page so that you know how the color will look in any light you are using it in! I found this palette format easy to hold just two rows open or four with the mixing tray accessible. The brushes are quite useful and made setting up a sketching kit for everyday transport easy!Pros -Paint works well as watercolor (spreading, lifting, blending)Palette easy to hold and useA huge chunk of a travel set in one purchaseCons -Plastic is a bit flimsyThe sponge doesn't hold very much (just bring an old washcloth for longer sessions)

The best!
You won't regret your purchase! I bought it an as soon as i get it I already love it!It comes in a very practical case with which you can take it wherever you want, and the hoop that has on the back helps you to hold it perfectly with just one hand, the colors are great! I am pretty sure that my money has been well invested with this product

Traveling watercolor set
I ordered this traveling watercolor set because I have a very small creative space in my home. It's so easy to store and when all the trays are open there is a ring in the back that I can slip on my finger to hold the paints, taking up no work space at all. I also love having three different size water-tube brushes. It's so easy to take along on trips to the museum, beach, or garden.

Not a watercolor person but the paint set makes you better than you are!!
The vividness of the colors is great. You don’t need to use a lot of the colors to get the right amount for your picture. The water brushes are also very good, comfortable and easy enough to control. I don’t think anyone would be disappointed in this product.

Really pretty, not chalky at all
I really liked this! This set was absolutely amazing! the watercolors were really pretty and not chalky at all and the brushes were in really good condition and didn't break even after i started using them. If I could give this a 4 1/2 stars I would probably say my only complaint is that the watercolor paints stain the brush after a while but luckily this doesn't affect the color that comes out. also the little pad thing at the top of the pallet does not rinse off if you leave the colors on there for a while. But otherwise, this product is AMAZING!!!!! I totally recommend this to anyone looking for a nice watercolor set that is portable and, like I said before, NOT CHALKY at all!!!

38 folding watercolor palette set
Received set 2 days ago and just complete the color chart to identify the colors because 38 colors would be confusing to me. Also did a test run exercise painting with 3 low intensity colors (yellow orchre, indian red and cerulean blue). Over all, the paints are easily activated by just running a wet brush over them. If they are sprayed with water then the brush will pick up too much thick paint. The paints are vibrant and the tray is cute (who can resist a cute watercolor box?). I would recommend for urban sketching and watercolor studying, since pigment informations are not listed.
