Heirloom quality
Our son was being deployed and we gave this to him from us to make sure he could find his way home (like they say in the movies when you give someone a compass). The quality is unbelievable. It's so hefty and strong and beautifully made you would think that it literally was from years and years ago. It's a beautiful worn bronze look and it snaps open and shut. It is heavy and it was bigger than we imagined. It's probably three and a half inches by 3 in round. It has a good weight to it and was definitely a quality gift.

Entirely a display piece
This is mostly a display piece, the body is decently made but the rest of it is disappointing; it's not liquid filled, the stamped brass parts are quite flimsy and poorly stamped, the sighting post on the one I got is assembled lopsided, and when collapsed it sticks out below the bottom so it doesn't lay flat. The photo-etched cardinal marks on the body are in a modern font that looks very out of place. It's a good prop for cosplay or film since it's inexpensive and looks all right at a distance, but not nearly as nice on close inspection and 100% not something you would use for mountaineering or guiding.

the best compass i have ever used , i lost my old one which had several tritium vials to use at night, but even without them i am completly happy

Solid build with a weak magnet
Solid build and accurate. However, the magnet for the needle is quite weak and it takes a long time to rotate into place.

Good for showpiece
Glass came broke, compass dosen't work or even rotate. The plus side is its very attractive looking, very sturdy feeling. It's so impressive looking I'm going to take my chances and try 1 more time and order another 1, fingers crossed.

Nice Compass
The Compass is accurate, but too slow to use as a guide. It takes awhile to settle down. The Brass is beautiful, and has an Antique look. Nice weight. If I were in the Woods I'd rather trust my Cammenga,but it's very nice around the House. Thank you alot.
