Design is great and it's very sturdy

Spending more money to cut some of weight off would be cool if you can afford it. But this mount is solid. I saw the weight in the description and when I got it in my hand it really surprised me. Good price and quality.

Works great

I needed a good scope mount for my Ruger 556 Ranch Rifle. Vortex has good products with a lifetime warranty. It’s made in China but the quality is good. Make sure the torque specs are followed. I’m happy with my purchase and would recommend this mount.

I was really excited to order this mount. It has lots of good reviews and I figured it would be a good match for my vortex scope. When I inspected it carefully upon arrival, I noticed that it has several dings/scratches on it. In some places it's just a dent, but in several places the finish is scratched off and I can see the shiny metal. I posted a picture of one of the scratches as an example. I know I'm probably being petty, and that these scratches are cosmetic and won't affect function. At the same time though, I wonder if I received someone else's used/returned mount. I worry that a previous owner may have overtorqued the screws, etc. Maybe the scratches came from the factory (made in China), where the finished pieces are tossed into a bin awaiting final assembly. I hope they don't do this at the factory, because a dent on the edge of a ring could deform it enough to scratch the scope. Either way, the damaged finish has made me less happy with my purchase, and wondering if I should have gone with the big L...UPDATE: I've now had the mount for a couple months, and have taken it to the range a few times. When I initially went to zero the scope, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't need ANY horizontal adjustment, just a few clicks of vertical. This shows good machining, and a good fit between the scope/rings. It has also held zero through several hundred rounds, so it appears that my issues were strictly cosmetic. One tip for those installing their scope: some auto parts stores will rent you a torque screwdriver that goes down to 15 inch pounds (not foot pounds). This way you can install with the proper torque consistently and not have to buy the tool yourself. Vortex has a great video on their website about how to properly install a scope.

High quality and exactly what I needed to mount my optic. Price was right. Installed easily, locks on to the receiver tight and holds the optic securely in place. Recommend using some loc-tite or equivalent on the screws anytime you’re mounting an optic to a rifle to ensure those screws don’t loosen up.
