Fantastic phaser! Doesn't muddy sound, has Mix knob that really goes to zero
After trying a handful of phasers, I've finally found the one I've been looking for. After using some phasers in software programs and hearing songs with subtle phaser, I knew the classic Phase 90 wasn't for me; I needed a Mix knob. I've tried a few now and even though this pedal isn't vintage and isn't much to look at (I wish it wasn't barf yellow), this is a great pedal. Mainly, I love it because it doesn't instantly muddy the sound like other phasers. It's clear and just lets your signal go through and adds as little or as much phaser as you want. This is particularly due to the Mix knob. I've tried others with Mix knobs and they don't do what you'd hope; this one does. Within minutes I had just the very subtle, warm filter flow I was looking for. Phew!

Great Phaser
I bought the Helix Phaser to replace the Dreamscape pedal I previously had on the board. This phaser offers a variety of vintage and modern modulation and phase shifting sounds that would compliment a wide range of genres. I'm using it in my country band currently. It works well for guitar and bass, and I'd imagine it'll also work fine with keyboards. The Toneprint app adds even more variability to the pedal. More so, I think, than it did for the Dreamscape. And like the other TC Electronic pedals, it's built like a tank, and expect it will handle gigs for a long time to come.

swoosh and swirl
gets swirlie, a lot of tone control. I use the vintage with feeback at about 1-2 oclock, mix at the same, depth at 3 and speed slow, like 7 or 8 oclock. it gives a nice airy sound and not the long crazy phaser swoosh, which is fun too, this is better to stomp on for a change of pace then go back to my tone without it. it is waaaaaaay better than the mxr phaser, that one was so bad I returned it to gc within hours, tried to make it work but could not. this is probably the only phaser you will need, so don't bother trying the other ones

Very nice flanger pedal.
Compared this Helix to a Source Audio Lunar. Both have a lot of customizable settings. However the mix Knob on the Helix was a bigger deal than I initially assumed it would be.Both offer software editing and you can set the mix on the Lunar in the software. I tried both units with many patches available and the Helix just sounded better to me.

This is what you want
I was looking for something to up my funk levels. I thought I wanted an envelope filter, but no.This is the pedal you want for David Gilmour-esq sounds as well as funky grooves.I use it on a bass and the best tone print is from Ida Neilson (she played bass for Prince).I own several TC Electronics pedals and they are all good quality.

Amazing Phaser!
When I bought this pedal, I simply thought I was getting a Phaser with some customization options. It is that and more! First, you have the Vintage switch, which, you guessed it, gives you vintage phaser sounds. Second, TonePrints. Awesome technology used for many TC Electronic products that allow you to download custom sounds, usually artist designed. You also have the TonePrint editor, which gives you even more customization. So I knew I was getting both of those, what I didn't realize and it was a very pleasant surprise, is that the Smooth mode provides that classic Michael Schenker/UFO partially cocked wah sound....simply amazing! This is the same price as the MXR EVH Phaser (which I also own). I would choose the Helix Phaser over the MXR EVH Phaser every time!

Almost There..but..
It is an "okay" phaser with more ways to dial in various moods or sounds. The "vintage" setting on the toggle is a little anemic, the "tone print" setting is very usable and the "smooth" setting is more like a "vintage EH small stone, but not quite the organic depth that comes in an EH with only one dial and one two position switch.I think the pedal has been overly advertised as the panacea for phaser pedals. I think that TC Electronics needs go back to the drawing board and make it better.I will keep it on my board for a few applications, but I was disappointed with some of hte sounds in this pedal.

Great for bass!
Have tried many others - boss, walrus, zvex, etc - and this is hands down my favorite phaser to date. Sound is warm, thick and very versatile. Such a great pedal!

Versatile but perhaps rather cold.
I have bought several phasers in the last couple of years, compared them, and kept two. This was one that I gave away. It does everything you would want a phaser to do, with the exception of the extra tricks that some have, but sounds somehow sterile with my gear. A friend has tried it on her electro harp & it's not bad at all there, but a more basic unit is at least as good. So it all depends on what works for you. If you want a classic phaser sound, buy one of the classics. If you wish to experiment further, consider this one.

It's a Phaser
I bought this and a Vortex flanger on impulse. The Vortex is more than I expected and has a wide and versatile variations and tones. The Helix is a phaser and while it can be adjusted, more or less, finer or broader it's still a phaser. If you like the effect this is a very good one. I think I'll keep it, but a phaser is not the first pedal I'd recommend for a new pedal board. (compressor, reverb, chorus, overdrive!)db

Gorgeous sound
When I was a lad, if it wasn't MXR, it wasn't a phaser. Having listened to YouTube demos of this Helix Phaser, I decided to give it a go, and I haven't been disappointed. It produces a really smooth, lush, swirling phase. Your taste may differ, but for me this is perfect.

I found the Helix Phaser an excellent addition to my pedal board (all TC Electronic)
I found the Helix Phaser an excellent addition to my pedal board (all TC Electronic), and compliments the Corona Chorus and Vortex Flanger very well...

It Phases!
I bought this to replace my vintage Maestro MP Phaser. Close, but not quite there, I can't the speed & depth to work as slowly & deeply as I can with the Balls & Speed controls, its close but not 100%. But the Maestro MP Phaser was 1 of a kind. Having said that, I would recommend the Helix.
