I have a workhorse knife with betw 11-12 deg symmetrical bevel. I am pretty good at sharpening but by no means a pro. My last attempt at sharpening such an acute angle knife freehand ended up scratching the blade.. upsetting me to the point of sanding / polishing out the scratches. With the K03, almost a cinch.I was discouraged from getting the kit based on one of the other review, however, after some research I discovered that the angle gauge, calibration plates, etc., are actually not part of this kit! So I ordered it anyway. My unit did not come scratched and has everything needed - though it does have one extra thumbscrew which might be the spare parts kit for this unit.Oct 14, 2019: Upgrading from 4 to 5 starsMy earlier concerns about using the K03 with larger stones was misplaced. Larger stones pose no problem. But better yet, I ordered some aluminum blanks direct from tsprof and am now able to hold even irregular size natural stones by epoxying to the blank. (Of course, an option of a bigger clamp for the stone holder would be 5+ stars, but by far, this is the only solution I have found that works for all stones I have.) I also ordered directly from tsprof the extended rack&pinion kit to allow sharpening single bevel knives. So, with these accessories -- the best system I've found so far!

Sharpener itself is beautifully machined. However, mine got all banged because the inside of the box was totally destroyed and the parts were all piled up in the middle when I opened. Parts were dinged up but still functional. TSprof has great design and well machined sharpener but very poor design in their packaging. Also, one of my Allen wrenches were missing that came out of the bag while everything was getting tossed around in shipping.

Bought this unit with real anticipation because of all the hype about it on you tube. To be honest I was so disappointed not because the unit doesn’t work as well as advertised, i really don’t know I never got a chance to use it. When the item arrived the packaging was the worst I’ve ever seen. Totally falling apart had to be packaged in another box for fear stuff may fall out. When I inboxed the unit the inside was as bad as the outside. Marked, scratches, dirt, dents, or looked used at best. I sent it back asking for an exchange figuring this may have been a fluke or just slipped through cracks....hey ..it hapenns!However When second unit arrived the box and unit was in perfect condition. Nothing like the first. Except this package had 8 parts missing including the angle gauge that’s attached to main unit.I have given two stars because although the unit itself does look impressive, with solid build quality it indeed may be the best sharpener on the market but if I can never use it because of all the other issues it must be placed in same category as 1 Star unit.I exchanged the 2nd unit again....one more time. I’m now waiting on the third unit. But because of the sloppy packaging and missing parts listed as contents for this unit I have to remain solidly one star.... after ordering and exchanging three times I’m done I will not order anotherWanted to let everyone know I ordered the upgraded unit at $499 and was completely satisfied with the unit. Everything was there and unit works with awesome precision. To be honest for what you get with this unit it is a much better deal then this one I had so much trouble with. Check out their other units before purchasing this one you’ll be glad you did!

It really puts a good edge on knives, however there is no way of knowing the bevel angle.

Amazing system just have patience and you will get an extremely sharp edge.

Excellent sharpener and quality. Easy to set up and start right away. Great for a diy’er.

I didn't like the complication, on you tube is mach different. For that amount of many$350 you can put in a package abrasive stones too. I'm not talking about ankle meter but in case shut to be!!!

I spent really much time trying to find a professional, durable and brutal sharpening system. This product totally satisfied my needs. Now the process of sharpening doesn't feel like home routine at all. With this product I feel like a military craftsmen who supplies all the members of my family army with the best quality equipment. Working with this sharpener is just a more interesting and satisfying process than using an average 50 USD sharpener from Walmart. Would definitely recommend.
