Most of our customers love using the Arduino for prototyping, design and invention but find themselves stuck when trying to connect the Arduino to the latest sensors, displays, controllers, interfaces, etc. as they are almost all 3.3V logic these days. We try to solve this problem by having all our breakout boards be 5V compatible or when that's not possible, including a level shifter chip but there are still thousands of tempting devices out there. Review: As Advertised - These chips are a bit expensive, but they are nicely packaged and well supported by Adafruit. Review: Prepare to burn through them... - Meh... These are about as resilient to withstanding over-current and over-voltage as a cotton candy the warmth of a summer afternoon. Burns dead at 50 mA! Seriously? I burned through all three of them while trying to interface SPI input logic(yes, just logic!) of a 3.3 OLED screen. Fortunately they are cheap.

Great for Logic Level Shifting!
It isn't what's on most tutorials for logic level shifting, but it works great!
