The Best Game You're Not Playing
Hunt: Showdown is a modified battle royale game with PVE elements. You can have teams of 2 or 3 or go in solo. HUNT is both easy and difficult to recommend. I will explain below.DIFFICULT TO RECOMMEND BECAUSE:- long load times (sometimes it can take 5 minutes to load a bounty hunt mission and you could be killed within the first 2 minutes of a match, if you're not careful)- no story mode (I don't mind this, but it is important to many gamers)- unforgiving PVP (other players, when they're good, are unrelenting in their utter destruction of your team)- permadeath for hunters (when hunters die, you lose all their gear and the hunter forever)- not a lot of players (sometimes it's hard to find a good match because of a lack of players)- you really need a good sound system or 360-degree headphones; TV speakers will not cut itEASY TO RECOMMEND BECAUSE:- incredible guns and weapons (they look and feel so good)- fun horror vibes and gore in a late 1800's Louisiana- easily the best sound design I've ever experienced in a game (I can't stress enough, how incredible this is)- co-op bonds made with fellow gamers are strong (I've made many new gamer friends when I click with a teammate)- crossplay between consoles (Xbox One and PS4 crossplay is great)- region-specific servers help reduce lag (unless you play with friends on the other side of the world - then you get some lag, but not enough to break the game)- fun gameplay (from sneaking to run-and-gun, teamwork to team wipe - the PVE hunt, kill, banish, extract gameplay is excellent and really gets the blood pumping when you mix in 3 to 5 other teams of players who are trying to accomplish the same goal)The cons that I have listed do not bother me. I love playing this game. If you get frustrated easily by shooting games or PVP, I would not buy it. The truth is: you can easily (and often) enter game, kill a bunch of monsters, kill all the other players, defeat your bounty target(s)... and then be killed by a zombie or a dog on the way to the extraction.... if you're not careful. But when you succeed in this game, that success is truly sweeter than any other gaming fruit.

A one of a kind game!
Hunt is loads of fun if you have friends to play with. The rush that comes from the fear of losing your high level character while running across the map carrying a bounty being chased by other players is indescribable! I it only has two well done maps, hopefully more will be released soon! People complain about the gameplay, it takes a little getting use to, but the game shines once you do!

PC like menu, but great port to PS.
Game was shipped as advertised. The menu options during gameplay are definitely PC like, but they did a great job with game controls when they ported it for PS.

Very original/very frustrating
Very original and uniquely bold pvp (outlaw vs outlaw) concept in 1900s Louisiana swamp with a zombies horror theme setting. Death is lurking around every corner in an extremely hazardous environment. The sound and sound effects are award winning and head phones are highly recommended. However it's an extremely competitive and difficult game. Shooting mechanics/controller input are inexcusably poor for a shooter based game. Long load times just to enter match and get killed by the undead or another skilled player before you even got started. No respawn and having to wait and start over just to have it happen again is why I deleted and sold game. Frustration far outweighs the fun for me personally. The game is incredible but not for an easily frustrated or impatient person. This is not run and gun. Every move has got to be calculated with caution. It's definitely worth a try to see if you have what it takes, you may love it or hate it. Good Luck !

Great Concept, Bad Gun Play
Hunt: Showdown is a first person shooter with horror elements. The game has you, the hunter, traversing the swamps of Louisiana after a plague, infection, or whatever has swept through and turned the people into hideous monsters and zombies. Your goal is to find clues, track down the boss monster, kill the boss, banish them, collect the loot, and escape the map with your goods, all while fighting off real players. The mixture of PVE and PVP is good as there are only 12 players in the map and tons of creatures. So you start the game with your hunter, which you will lose permanently if they die, and you start searching for these things on the ground, once you find three of them, it will reveal the location of the boss. The boss is either the Butcher, Assassin, and Spider. All three are pretty easy to kill but sometimes you get no hit marker for Assassin. Once they are dead you start to banish them. During the banishment, every player in the map is alert to where you are at, and generally come to kill you and snag the loot. Once the process of banishment is up, you need to pull up your map and find an extraction zone. These zones are always on the edge of the map and it takes 30 seconds to extract upon arriving at said location. At any time during that process a player can kill you and pick up the loot and extract themselves. The map is pretty good sized and the environment is perfect. The foggy swamps infested with all manners of creatures is quite a sight to see. You have regular zombies, zombies with weapons, zombie dogs, infected woman that release poisonous bugs, crusty armored creatures, slug filled fat zombies and more. The sound effects are crazy good but sometimes so unreasonably loud, but they did that so people could hear others stalking them. Now for the bad part- the gun-play. This takes place in older days, so guns aren't nearly as advanced and are incredibly slow, which isn't the problem. The problem is the terrible aiming and hit register against other players. For starters there is an obvious input lag which makes you miss a lot, then the aiming just feels so off. I have messed with the settings multiple times and it just never feels good. Now for hit detection, I will shoot someone point blank with a shot gun, and get absolutely nothing. Now this isn't an all the time thing, but enough to ruin a game. I acquired three copies of this game for me and two of my buddies and they both overwhelmingly agree with me. Maybe its the input lag, maybe something else, but it needs patched soon. Guns fights literally drag out with no one hitting each other, its pretty hilarious. As mentioned before you do lose your character and their equipment permanently upon death but you can always buy back those items you unlocked as your bloodline level is always going up. Character levels will reset but oh well. Actually I was kicked twice and both times it counted as deaths for my player so it really doesn't bother me. Overall- this has the potential to be a really good game and I want to give it three stars but simply can't as its become unbearable to play. Maybe after a patch I will take a second look.

Amazing game.
Cannot get enough of this game and its intricacy...its fixation on its sound mechanics and stat dynamics make it a blast. Shipped fast and arrived flawlessly

Very fun
Amazing game, 5 star material easy except for some minor things. Extremely atmospheric and immersive. Can get repedative at times but the atmosphere and gameplay will keep you coming back. It’s nice having AI on the map that can easily kill you like the players. Would love to see deadlier monsters roaming around tho. Love the random day setting too. It’s usually nice and sunny but sometimes it’s foggy or bad weather. The nights are so damn scary. Turn gamma up a bit or underground areas are literally pitch black. Everyone else has gamma raised so it lights up very dark areas(game breaking in my opinion as lightless areas should be pitch black unless illuminated by a light source, not your tv settings). So why use the flashlight? Blind people in the dark you say? Well it’s a shoulder light so people just gotta aim for the centre of the light and usually hit you in the face lol. Matchmaking could be better as in I really don’t wanna vs people that have 1000s of hours vs me who has barely 20. But then it’d be hard to find a game so I get it. Even below level 11 I was facing top ranked people... “training lobbies” my butt!! I still extract more than I die and have 15k+ hunt dollars on my first few Days so it won’t ruin your game that’s for sure, unlike trials. You’ll have good games and bad games just understand that the money and hunters are technically infinite so always outfit your guy to the teeth. Because why save a few hunt dollars that you can easily get back and have a terrible game because you didn’t have the best equipment... time wasted and time you can’t get back but your hunter and money you can. This might help overcome the gear or hunter fear. With that being said the base weapons are just as deadly as top tier... just aim for the head(usually instant kill) so you really don’t feel underpowered per say, just a feeling of underplayed because map knowledge is important so you vs someone with hundreds more hours than you, odds are you’re gunna get shot from areas you don’t know about/ just gunna die. But use that because experienced players are usually cocky and try to rush or flank obvious areas, set up kill boxes and don’t miss because if you do, they wont. Shoot and maneuver, repeak equals a fast death. Oh and BE QUIET!!! Can’t count the amount of times me and my team headed to noise and killed some hunters. The one problem I’m having with this game is the trials... they are so damn stupid and the fact that you have to play it to unlock certain things is beyond STUPID! And to top it off the objectives for trials are just poorly thought out. Kill this many enemies sounds easy right? Too bad they give you a stupid weapon for it and add things like, no enemy dies from fire:.. that’s impossible with immolators running around everywhere igniting everything they touch even if you don’t shoot them I had grunts just dieing from fire... never completing that trial I guess!! I was really enjoying this game and then I decided to try trials... big mistake. The biggest piss off objective is avoid any damage.... yeah wouldn’t be too hard if the there wasn’t a stupid timer!!! Forces you to rush and sometimes they put too many enemies and you just run out of stamina... so anyone that’s looking into this game.. AVOID THE TRIALS. They aren’t even fun, just tedious and feels like a chore... love the bounty hunts tho!
