Outstanding Quality and Value.
This lock is solid and heavy, has a quality feel and is much harder to pick than your average Master Lock, or any lock you can buy at this price for that matter. You can google for images of the type of key this lock uses, it is different from regular keys - this means thieves in US are likely unfamiliar with it and won't know how to pick it. this is also a dual ball bearing lock for resistance to shimming. it is also key retaining which i like.the one "weakness" of this lock is the shackle is stainless steel, not boron steel - in other words the shackle is designed more for weather resistance than cutting resistance.that said, for use with a gym locker the shackle is probably stronger than locker itself, so even if you get a boron shackle lock a person with bolt cutters would probably be able to cut the locker itself.anyway, this is just about a perfect padlock for use with pool lockers if you don't mind swimming with the key ( i don't ). for a gym locker you could consider an ABUS titalium which is lighter due to aluminum body, but is not marine grade.i have recently upgraded to ABLOY 330 which is 5 times the price of this lock and realistically, as i said, breaking the locker would still be just as easy. that said, the ABLOY 330 does feature a boron shackle, super massive body and 100% unpickable mechanism, and still fits my locker. i now use both locks because all my gear doesn't fit in one locker.now if you're using a padlock for application where the shackle doesn't need to fit into a small hole ( such as gym lockers ) then i would get a lock with a thicker shackle. all 8 mm shackles can be cut with bolt cutters, even the boron ones ( although it takes some muscle ). unfortunately gym and pool lockers won't accept shackles much larger than 8 mm. they probably do this so they can cut the locks off if somebody leaves the locks on overnight.

Wow! What a lock and key!
This is the most unusual and highest quality lock I have ever purchased. The lock is German designed and the key must first be registered with ABUS on their website using the code imprinted on the key head if the owner wishes to ever order a replacement. In any event, for security the key code should be registered immediately after purchase whether or not the purchaser wishes to order spare keys. Registration is free. The local locksmith will be unable to duplicate this key. It can be ordered only from ABUS for super security. You will have no worries about an unauthorized person going to a locksmith and making copies of THIS key. I know nothing about picking a lock. But I suspect this lock would be more difficult to pick than a normal padlock, which is easy to pick. Also, several purchasers have given this company one star ratings because the key did not "fit" the lock they purchased. This is what I thought was the problem with the lock I purchased. But just insert the key into the keyhole, turn the key one quarter of a turn, and open the shackle. The shackle does not pop open like a normal padlock. It just pulls/drops out after the key turns the cylinder one quarter of a turn. The key cannot be removed until the lock is again closed. I think you will like this unusual lock with its unusual key. Very highly recommended.

The amount of protection for the price on this lock is outstanding. If you actually like keeping your things, Buy it!
I bought this lock after quite a bit of research. I watch a Youtube channel where bosnianbill shows how to defeat locks. The channel has been eye opening and completely changed how I think of locks. He had this lock in a video or 2 and in my opinion, it's at a great price point. I purchased this to use with a Pelican Case ( Pelican 1450 ) After doing lots of digging, I figured the shackle on this lock should fit. I also had to figure how much to spend as I needed 2 locks and considering the case could be cut open, it wouldn't be smart to spend 100's on locks. These locks fit the pelican case but only just. It's even hard to move the lock when it's on the case. For the price, these locks are pretty difficult to pick and they seem to be well made. I bought a 3rd one to lock my Hi Lift to my truck. Hear in Flagstaff, the weather can be pretty brutal. We will see how long it can stand the cold winters. Below is a video showing how difficult it is to pick this lock. Keep in mind that I don't think he could have done it without the vice and if you see how quick he is at picking other locks, most notably anything from Master, you'll see that this is a very good lock for the money.**I tried to link to the video and Amazon wasn't to happy about that. On Youtube, the channel named Bosnianbill and the video is "Tips for Picking Dimple Locks"**

Durable and good quality
I wanted a really good, harder to pick lock than the ones you can get at the store. I had a decent lock on my garage door but someone's picked it and left it open 3 times already.I needed something more challenging so nobody comes into my house while we're not home. I did lots of research and came across this one.Well, the price did seem high at first, but once I had it in my hands I realized that it's the quality and durability you're paying for. This lock is heavy, has not rusted in the rain and and so far nobody has gotten it open without the key.Now I don't live in the safest town, and there's a vacant run down house across from me that attracts squatters.I need a good lock. One that will challenge a picker enough to either run out of time trying or give up.This is that lock.I know it's secure every time I use it because it will not lock without the key.I'd recommend if you have something you want to stay secure. I trust this lock on the outside of my garage door and I'm considering buying extras for the gates too.
