Best Tank I've Ever Owned! Halo 30L, 8gal
This review is for BIORB 30L/8 GALLON, Gray tank-I've owned this tank for 3 weeks now. I'm still very satisfied with the purchase. I was very unsure at first if this would be a good buy due to conflicting reviews on this tank.I currently have 3 neon tetras, 1 male fancy guppy, 1 white cloud minnow, 1 ghost shrimp, and 1 cherry shrimp in there. From other people's reviews, I made sure that the tank has 0 ammonia and 0 nitrates before adding more fish. Here's how I started my tank:1. Followed directions on the box with regards to cleaning the ceramic media, assembling the filter, and adding the 2 solutions included.2. I bought 1 Java fern and 3 marimo moss balls (all purchased here in Amazon). Loved the Java fern rooted around a coconut husk and the marimo moss balls are beautiful! Added my 50w heater and thermometer. Let the tank cycle for 48 hours.3. I first purchased 2 fancy guppies for fish-in cycling. Fed them every day to every other day to minimize ammonia spike.4. I brought some tank water to petco and had them run a free water sample test. Then proceeded to add 3 neon Tetras and 1 ghost shrimp. Another week and a half later, I did a 30% water change.. I put API dechlorinator and API ammo lock for the replacement water.. Waited several days, then added 1 white cloud and 1 cherry shrimp. The ammonia levels are slowly rising (my fault for increasing the bioload too much) so I'm currently correcting it with every 2 days dosing of ammo lock. If after 7 days of using ammo lock, my ammonia level doesn't drop (meaning my tank doesn't produce enough ammonia absorbing bacteria fast enough), I'll try doing another partial water change or do a partial foam filter change (cut a small portion to of the old donut filter foam and add it to the new donut foam to retain healthy bacteria). The decorations from biorb can be pricey, I got the coral lava rock and red algae decor from biorb. But the Java fern and moss balls were much cheaper and healthier for the tank as they help convert the nitrate to nitrite and add oxygen to the tank.I try to minimize turning the led light on as my Java fern leaves started turning brown when I left it on too long during the day before. Having the lights off also keeps algae growth to a minimum. But my guests love the tank! It's really beautiful as everything inside it are magnified. Having the optional purple moonlight is nice too.Would encourage people to purchase this tank as long as you read up thoroughly on tank cycling and care! Ppl also recommended keeping small fishes here, like 1 inch or less. Maximum of 7-8 small shrimp/fishes. 50 watt heater fits perfectly fine as there are included instructions on how to place the heater wiring through a small opening on the tank lid.The pump does make some buzzing noise, but it's not loud enough to be heard across the room. Enjoy the pictures attached!*UPDATE* — it's been 5 weeks now and going great. Added 2 extra cherry shrimps. Ammonia level steady now and doing partial 30-40% water changes every 2 weeks with the suction gravel vacuum. Tank is still beautiful and clean, easy to maintain. No regrets.*LATEST UPDATE: over a year later! - - 3 Tetras are still all alive! One guppy, one white cloud, and one zebra danio all about a year old! Shrimps didn't last long, but mostly died when I didn't diligently change the water every 2 weeks. Still loving this biorb! Lights and pump all working!

Save your money .. NOT FOR GOLDFISH!
I ordered the biorb and spent $400 in total in accessories etc for my 4 yo goldfish (you'll note the video above showing a goldfish). When inquiring how many goldfish can go in the biorb, I sent an email to support. This was the response:Good Morning,Thank you for your patience! We really don’t recommend goldfish in the biOrbs as they produce a lot of ammonia which is very bad for them to swim in. However, each goldfish requires a minimum of 20-Gallons of water. Following this rule means that two healthy goldfish can live happily in a 40-Gallon aquarium (minimum). 50-Gallon to 60-Gallon aquariums is recommended for three goldfish (four small goldfish).Best Regards,Maritere SierraCustomer Care SpecialistNeedless to say, I'm pretty disgusted this is not featuredas a warning in their literature and that I know have >$400 of useless biorb products.

Beautiful.
Very nice aquarium! I should have measured because it is too tall to fit on my counter under the top cabinet. I had to find a new spot for it. My 2 small goldfish seem to love it and have plenty of room. We get lots of compliments on it. It’s time to change the filter and it seems like it will be a lot of work (more involved than my last rank, anyway).

Beautiful Underwater World-Always The Topic of Conversation
The media could not be loaded. I have the 4 & 8 gallon Halo BiOrb and I love them both but the larger one is easier to maintain. It’s beautiful underwater world for my fish friends. It’s frequently the topic of conversation when we have guests.

Loving it
So far so good. I bought a extra bag of ceramic media to cover the bottom more. I really like this tank because of the shape, looking straight at it, it makes the fish look like they are swimming in 3D. I have 2 goldfish in right now, they seem very happy. I threw in 7 marimo moss balls as well.

Beautiful Marine Piece
This is a beautiful marine piece in my room with minimal effort - so far. My clown fish seems to love it. The purchase was a challenge as Amazon sent me a used unit missing many parts but that was corrected quickly. Then the halo went out and biOrb sent a replacement quickly. I have never been able to get the halo moonlight feature to work correctly. Other than that its awesome.

I cannot get this aquarium's water to clear. The water is continuously cloudy. I've changed it, we used the water conditioner as well as the biological booster. It has now been 4 days. I have two 4 gallon tanks and have not have any issues. I'm truly puzzled as to what is going on with the Halo. Hopefully someone can shed some light on what we can do. Totally disappointing.
