I washed a hat that had been in a house fire and had a bit of smoke on it - this device kept the hat in the original shape both in the washer and dryer and it was totally clean!

The media could not be loaded.  I purchased this hat washer and I didn't really high hopes for it. My hat was so bad that it smelled like dirty, wet gym socks that had been left inside of a closed car. I was either going to have to buy another hat for $30 to replace my nasty hat, or if this hat washer ruined the hat, I figured I would throw the hat away away and there wouldn't be too much money lost. I had finally broken in my everyday hat, so it was a risk I was willing to take.Putting hat into hat washer.I carefully pulled up on the plastic clips of the hat washer and pulled it into two pieces. I then took my dirty, disgusting hat and placed it facing up on the bottom plastic piece of the hat washer. (Make sure the hat is straight and wrinkle free as possible) Next, I placed the top portion of the hat washer down over my hat. I then secured the plastic clips so that the two pieces of the hat washer became one adjoining piece with the hat in the middle.Washing in washing machine.Once I had the hat securely placed into the hat washer I set the top load washer onto the delicate setting and put a small amount of detergent into the washer. I was expectating the end result to be that the hat would becrumbled and the plastic on the hat washer would be broken, but to my suprise when I opened the washer,everything was fine.Drying the hat.After I washed the hat in the hat washer, I left it inside of the hat washer and put it in a cool room of my house that had a ceiling fan circulating air. I left the hat washer face up to dry for approximately 2 days. I believe this extended drying time allowed the hat to reshape while in the hat washer and allowed the elastic to fully dry and the cardboard bill to become rigid again.Using the hat after washing and drying.First of all, my hat smelled amazing again after washing it. If I had to rate how washing the hat affected the hat, I would say that it affected the shape and elastic in the hat by less than 10%.I really had to look hard to notice any negative damage done by the hat washer. I would not recommend washing a hat every week, but for elastic, flex fit hats, I would say that this washer will effectively wash a hat 1-5 times without having to dispose of the hat. Obviously this number will depend on your everyday use, brand, and overall care of your hat.PROS:• Easy to Assemble and disassemble.• Hat can be washed in the washing machine• Can be used to dry hat as well.CONS:• Plastic is thin and looks like it could easily break.Overall I am pleased with this hat washer. I wish the plastic was a little thicker on the washer, but overall it should last for a few washes before I have to replace it. I had seen these for years and finally decided to get one and I'm downright shocked at how well it works. It took a minute to figure out how to open it up and that's worst thing I can say about it. I toss a hat in with my clothes into my front load washer and my hats come out nice and clean and still in shape.

I have a lot of baseball hats and they do get dirty. They’re too expensive to throw away. I haven’t tried dry cleaning them, but that’s a possibility. For now, I hand wash them in the kitchen sink with soap and a brush. I then put them in the cap holder to form and dry the cap. I don’t use the washing machine or dryer. My hats have been coming out cleaner and in better shape using this method.

If you need to wash your hat, this is the product for you! Oversized to fit multiple sized hats and super easy to you. Quiet in the washer and dryer! Cleans well!

I recently purchased the Hat Washer for Washing Machine, hoping to give my baseball caps a thorough cleaning without risking damage in the laundry. Overall, it's an okay option for those looking to clean their hats in the washing machine, but there may be better alternatives out there.

My son recommended this product to me. I used it yesterday on a white baseball cap that was really dirty. I followed the directions and placed the hat in the cage, putting it in the top rack of my dishwasher (if you use a dishwasher rather than a washing machine - you can use either - just make sure your dishes don't have food particles on them).I used the regular cycle and the hat came out like I just bought it in the store. Recommend it without reservations!

First time use, I was really impressed and happy with my purchase.Second time use, I was disappointed and sadly it ended in the bin.I guess I won't be using it for the third time.All the other clothes and the whole drum were covered with the plastic bits.It is a shame as it did a really good job at first.
