Sturdy and Sharp
I have a plastic madolin slicer that I use to cut soft veggies but I needed something sturdier to make homemade fries. This fit the bill nicely. The stand is solid and the blades are very sharp. You have to cut the potato in half to slice it which makes it easier to hold and slide but it works very well. No more bagged fries for us! Be careful using it because you can easily trim a piece of your finger off. The gloves that are included will only fit someone with small hands so I couldn't use them since I have very large hands for a man. Otherwise the rest of the kit is fine.

High Quality Product
When I was buying this Mandolin I was debating between this one and the Gramercy Park Mandolin. The Gramercy Park Mandolin was $20 more claiming that it was the best home use model on the market. I don't like to knock anybody but I ordered the Gramercy Park later after I had already ordered this one making two total that I ordered. The Gramercy Park was exactly the same thing the only difference was the box that it came in and the name on The box. This one was cheaper and the exact same thing probably made in the same factory. At any rate I'm well happy with this one. It's the same exact product is the more expensive one. I would buy this one again and recommend it to My own Mama. I can't see anything being any better made than the one that I received. Even the ones you see on Amazon that cost $200 or more dollars don't look any more well made than this one and they certainly won't last 10 times longer. If anybody has any doubt about these don't. They are super high quality and you will be happy with these just be careful with the sharp blade. I like the fact that it's one blade that you flip over and you don't have to fool with a bunch of removable sharp blades. Top quality in my eyes and I can't say enough good about it, especially for the $34 I paid. It's like a sore peter, you can't beat it!! God Bless Y'all. Jimmy in NC....

Simple and mostly efficient
This is easy set-up,clean-up & storage. But it seems to be designed to mainly cut things in circles, the hand guard it comes with has small needles that are supposed to push into the item you want to slice but I found that when I tried to do that on a vegetable I wanted to slice lengthwise those needles didn't reach but if I cut it so it was round it did. So if you want to slice things lengthwise you’ll need to use the gloves and a fork or something to cut anything the long way. I do wish it was a bit wider as well. It at the end of the day it’s a good item and I’ll use it often for sure because it’s a time saver when I’m slicing veggies to make veggie lasagne 😁

STURDY & SIMPLE
Long ago, I got rid of a mandoline slicer that was all plastic, bulky and had too many parts. After a lot of searching, I chose this one. It's just what I hoped it would be. This is nice stainless steel with sturdy legs, a super smooth blade and a built in system (removable for cleaning) for doing other cuts. I sliced potatoes and onions right away, and it worked very well. The description hadn't specified that the safety gloves and cleaning brush were included, but they were in the box. The instructions are very simple, with the blade adjustment taking just a little practice. One note: the instructions did not reference this, but the box stated NOT to immerse the mandoline to wash.

5 Stars – I Fear This Mandolin, and I Love It
After years of battling with my old mandolin (which was more of a blunt suggestion than a slicer), I finally upgraded—and oh baby, this thing means business. From the moment I unboxed it, I knew my vegetables were in trouble. Onions? Obliterated. Tomatoes? Sliced so thin they could audition for a paper cut. Potatoes? Perfectly uniform chips that made me feel like a snack scientist. This mandolin is sharp, sleek, and somehow makes me feel both powerful and slightly concerned for my fingertips. (Seriously, use the hand guard. Don’t be a hero.) Cleanup is easier than convincing me to order takeout, and it stores neatly without looking like a medieval torture device. It’s like the Ferrari of kitchen gadgets—if the Ferrari came with a warning label and made salads. Bottom line: If you’re still using that dull, clunky relic you bought during the Bush administration, do yourself (and your stir-fry) a favor and upgrade. You won’t regret it.

Sturdy, cuts regularly-sized pieces, quick, and fairly easy to clean
This works quite well at cutting slices of things, such as vegetables or potatoes. It cuts quickly and cleanly, and it's easy to carefully control the size of the slices that you want. It would be very easy to slice yourself if you didn't use the gloves or the holder. I expect that you could seriously hurt yourself with this if you are not careful. It is probably not something that would be good to have around children. It does poorly with things that you want to cut into fine shreds, such as cheese. The minimum thickness that you can adjust the slices to is still relatively thick, and I don't think there is really any good way around this. It does not compare to or replace cheese graters / shredders such as rotary shredders. Only a few slices will fit under the slicer, which is where things fall. It's a bit annoying to have to pause every 3 slices or so to pull a plate out from under the mandoline and reposition things, and it slows down processing.

Excellent
We really like this good quality mandoline. We used it for slicing for two different widths so far, but haven't tried the julienne feature yet. Getting the blade assembly in and out was a little tricky at first, but once we got the hang of it, no problems. Be careful, though - those blades are sharp! I love that they include the safety gloves.

It was nearly impossible to use.
I bought it to make thick sliced eggplant or zucchini "noodles" for Lasagna and Fettuccini Alfredo, to escape from carb-filled pasta. I've done it before, but with a "AHCZDDK Vegetable Chopper" I also bought from Amazon.com. I thought it would make thicker slices, but it was not going to. Instead, I washed a nice fresh eggplant and couldn't get it to cut. So I sliced the first slice with a potato peeler. It was very hard to get to the blade, then the slice was super thin. It does not have variable slice thicknesses. It has notches. You can make a slice, a thick julienne, or a skinny julienne. The thickness of each is predetermined. When I got halfway through the eggplant, it stopped slicing altogether. The product pusher started running into the blade. No bueno! This is not good. Certainly not what I had in mind. I'm stuck making "noodles" with the veggie slicer (which slices quite beautifully - just too thin) and layering the extremely thin "noodles" 3 layers high.

Blunt and flawed design.
Very blunt and design doesn’t work. I have a guillotine that’s over 10 years old, and worked great but has become blunt. Still 10 times sharper than this. The guard is also poorly design and borderline dangerous - especially to people who don’t know what they are doing. Very poor product.
