Texas approves open carry and I wanted a holster for my sidearm that offered a bit more protection in case someone wanted to walk by and slip my sidearm out of holster and run off or turn on me. This fit the bill nicely and was well reviewed by LEO so I bought one for a G17 and now will be buying a couple more for other arms.This came with a paddle option or belt option both feel good on the hip and the paddle option has some retention features built into it to keep it in place. This is more comfortable and more stable for me so it is how I have the rig setup. It also makes removal in case a business has a 30.07 sign to securely stow my firearm without removing my belt and to not advertise I have a firearm stashed by walking around with an empty holster.After practicing with a firearm in this holster it adds very little time to the point of fire. Initially it was adding about 1.5 seconds and once I understood and practiced the motion it has come to less than a second and I am sure with continual practice it may become a non issue once muscle memory takes over. The motion is also very fluid to a natural draw and is designed to keep your finger off the trigger during the initial pull to avoid an accidental misfire, however your finger is right where it needs to be in the event the weapon needs to be discharged.This holster very much securely holds a firearm. It is a very simple design and I could do handstands with a loaded sidearm and not have it fall out. I have loaded my sidearm with dummy rounds and couldn't shake it out upside down. I tried yanking it out with reasonable force and could not using an amount of force that wouldn't break the holster. I feel very confident in the retention abilities of this device.Even though this securely holds my sidearm it isn't overly snug like some holsters. I added in a bit of really thin silk fabric in the usual rub points to ensure it doesn't mar the finish of my weapon. The plastic was easily glued to and hasn't presented any issues with holstering or drawing the weapon.The carbon fiber looking insert is not carbon fiber but it looks good and appears to be bonded to the holster correctly for durability.This is a great holster option and I can't think of any reason not to buy this holster for carrying a firearm.

I purchased this holster for competitions with my Glock 17 MOS. I know it is not a "competition holster" but it works great for holstering the pistol while in the queue waiting for my turn but also easy to draw the pistol during a competition. When putting the pistol back in the holster, it slides in very easily and clicks securing the pistol in it. I own a Glock 34 MOS too which fits in the holster the same way the Glock 17 does except that it extends beyond the end of the holster and you may not like that but it does not bother me at all for the way I use it.If you need a OWB holster, you will not be disappointed with this one. I included 2 photos showing the G17 MOS with an optic and the G34 without an optic. This holster has a cut that allows optics to be on the pistol without rubbing on the holster during a draw but does not have enough room to accommodate co-witness iron sights. If you want a holster that has room for co-witness Iron sights, you should try the Comp Tac ( Comp-Tac International Holster ).NOTE: Although this holster has been great for my needs, I feel that I should bring to your attention that at the time of this review the use of the Serpa holsters appears to has been banned by LAPD. The problem appears to be with safety and the fact that you use your trigger finger to release the pistol from the holster. Before you purchase this holster, you should search the Internet for "Serpa Ban" and draw your own conclusions. I personally gave it 5 stars because I do not use this holster for "carry" purposes and I will not be using it in a stressful situation.

There definitely isn't much hiding this holder as a concealed, unless you're wearing a big coat. It's a wonderful holster otherwise though. To take on hikes or hunting. It doesn't get in the way and with the paddle attachment you can easily tuck into into any pants you're wearing. I can even use this with my gym shorts, and it works just fine!! You can also attach it to inner pockets of a coat, I will also attach it to the compartment on the door of my car, using the paddle attachment. It's amazing!It weighs next to nothing as well. I use it with a 3rd gen glock 17, and it fits great. A full clip adds a fair amount of weight, but the holster is really good at properly distributing that weight.I would definitely suggest to anyone looking for a good, comfortable holster.

I'm super happy with this holster. I've tried the rest from Kydex to Aliengear. I just happen to like this for a few safety reasons. If I get in to a wrestling match it can't easily be pulled out of my holster. I also like the confirmation click when it locks in to place and every time you unlock it to pull your gun it trains you to keep your finger off the trigger. This is big in my defensive gun training class. I thought it was a bit uncomfortable until I got a real gun belt and that made the difference. I highly recommend this holster especially at it's price point. I believe the videos out there making this holster look bad are fakes or the people are just not smart. Either way I'd buy it again...
