Makita XCU04Z 18V X2 (36V) LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 16" Chain Saw, Tool Only (Renewed)

Got this because I already had the 36v weed eater polesaw combo with some batteries. Its as good as you'd expect a 36v chainsaw from makita to be. It does chew through batteries. If I don't keep the chain really sharp, I can almost exhaust one set of 5mah batteries getting through a large log just once. It's great for for home owner use, even for things like firewood. But its not going to last long enough for professionals.

I purchased a refurbished saw and was not disappointed! I saved a little money and got a really terrific saw! (After a storm), we trimmed 4 large trees altogether today using this saw! Then we had to cut up all the large trimmed branches into movable pieces! Never once did this saw bog down nor stick in the wood. The two 5Ah batteries lasted through the entire job and were still running as if it could do more! It is quiet; no bothering the neighbors with a loud screaming chain saw running all day! And no exhaust fumes to choke me! This brushless motor design is terrific with lots of power!I recommend this saw to anyone tired of messing with a gas powered saw! You will never look back once you experience the awesomeness of this saw!

I am really loving this saw. I have a stihl 441c as well which is a very good powerful saw. It's very heavy, Loud and consumes a lot of gas. The makita saw is really light and plenty powerful. It's so quiet too. With 4 batteries I can charge two while working and can keep going and going. It's great for medium trunks and small trimming work. I am very pleased with this product

Amazing tool for the price and convenience. With a sharp chain and a couple of charged batteries, this chainsaw can do an amazing amount of work.

I own several Makita 18V tools and multiple batteries. The chainsaw performed well cutting small 4" branches and limbs around the property. When I began cutting the trunk of the tree 12"+, this is when the saw fell short. The battery life has 5min of run time - at best. When running under full load the saw stopped multiple times, battery lights flashing, etc. and would not start again until time passed. (watch some youtube videos) This seems to be a feature to protect the batteries. Very frustrating. I eventually had to finish the job with my craftsman corded chainsaw (embarrassment) which did not stop but I had to deal with a 150+ft cord in the woods.Resist the urge to stay on the Makita platform with this one, or get the 10" bar and only cut less than 6" limbs. If you need to cut 12"+ wood, this is not your saw.

I can not get the chainsaw to run. I ordered new batteries, and I will try it again. If that does work I"ll have to send back.

It cuts just as good as a gas powered saw!! Lasted a lot longer then I thought the batteries would. And it's a lot lighter to use for longer amounts of time.
