Primula Universal French Press Replacement 8-Cup Glass Beaker

I bought this to replace the broken glass of my Bodum 8 cup French press I purchased from Starbucks. The replacement beaker fits well. The beaker fits perfectly in its holder and the press fits perfectly in the beaker. This is a cheaper alternative to the actual Bodum replacement. The coffee still tastes great!UPDATE 08-27-12: I reduced this to 3 stars from the original 5. While the beaker fits well and still makes great-tasting coffee, when I fill the beaker to the near top to make a full pot of coffee, the beaker leaks terribly when I pour. The coffee has to be poured VERY carefully when the pot is full so that it does not leak down the sides. But to do that, it requires much concentration. Too much, in my opinion, to just pour coffee into the mug. It is such a common occurrence that for anyone who pours that first or second cup of coffee there are always leaks down the side. My guests are always apologizing for the mess! Leaking does not occur after the first two cups are poured out. While it is not really a big deal, it is definitely an annoyance, especially because we use this coffee pot all the time! I now pour over the sink so I don't have to deal with the leaking and each time wish I spent the money on the original Bodum beaker that never leaked.

So much cheaper than the "brand name" version, especially if you factor in shipping costs, and definitely worth the risk of going that route. It has a snug fit (but not uncomfortably) into the metal frame of the Bodum Chambord, which is the model I have. As one reviewer mentioned, it actually is thicker glass and therefore feels more sturdy than the original Bodum beaker that broke (for me, after about a year of use; and that was the second Bodum beaker to break after a year's work). The spout that people keep mentioning seems wider to me than the original beaker, and therefore easier to pour from, so I'm not sure what the other reviewers were experiencing exactly. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase and will probably buy another one to have on hand, since its rising popularity has already made its price bump up once, apparently!

Good replacement - fit pretty well although not quite as snug as the original beaker I broke. However, because it was so snug, likely taking it out made it more susceptible to damage, as I would have to tug and twist it out of the stainless steel frame of the french press. The new one seems slightly less dense but slides into the frame well and easier to remove to clean the frame now and then as well.

The quality of the product Primula glass beaker itself seems fine. However, I read in other reviews that it worked well as a Bodum replacement for an 8 cup french press. So I purchased a Primula replacement beaker.It did not work for the Brazil Bodum french press. Perhaps it works for other Bodum products, but not the Brazil. I believe it may be slightly too large in terms of perimeter. More importantly there's a small lip on the top rim that the typical Bodum beaker does not have. I believe this is what caused the Primula beaker to break as I was pushing it into place. And believe me, I heated up the Brazil holder and had let hot water sit in the beaker that was already partially in place within the holder. However, it broke at the place where the Brazil handle clips onto the beaker. I believe this was because of the rim, which slightly juts outward.So in regard to the quality of the Primula beaker as a stand alone item, well that seems fine.But if you are looking to use it as a Bodum Brazil beaker replacement, I give it an F (0%).

When I left it to close to the edge of the counter that day, turned to watch what my crazy wonderful cat was getting into. Crash the glass was broken at least it broke in large pieces and was empty. Easy clean up. But what to do with my new shipment if Chai Tea? I was so happy when I was looking for a new press I found this. It arrived carefully packed so fast. I was just finishing my last glass of iced Chai Tea and there it was. I am much more careful now. I rest easy knowing I can get another should my attention lapse.

Beaker seems a little more sturdy than the original one I had for my french press and fits a little tighter but works just fine.

The Primula replacement glass broke while I was washing it for perhaps the 50th time after making coffee with it. Luckily, my cut was pretty minor. I wish the glass was somehow more durable. All I did was grip the edge of the glass near the spout while washing with soap and warm water and a sharp piece of glass about the size of a business card broke away. At least the glass didn't shatter into thousands of small pieces..It could have been a lot worse.I will order another glass container since I like making coffee in a french press. I hope the next replacement lasts longer?

When my Bodum French Press beaker (all-silver unit) broke, I was ready to run right out and buy another unit. I cannot live without my Bodum! Thankfully, I checked Amazon first and discovered I could buy this replacement beaker for a slice of the cost of a new French press and at a much lower price than a Bodum brand replacement. It arrived, I installed it, and it's as if the beaker never broke. However, the price of this generic beaker seems to fluctuate (it currently costs 20% more than when I bought it), so you should definitely check the price of a Bodum-brand beaker here on Amazon to make sure this is really cheaper.

Mas grueso y menos delicado que el original. Tiene las mismas medidas que el original y entra bien en la canastilla.

Rompí la taza hace ya un tiempo y tenía rato buscando una para mí prensa, me daba nervio que no le quedara por ser universal pero le quedó perfecta.

Exelente, cabe perfectamente en una bialetti modelo prensa francesa de 8 tazas perfecto para reponer el vaso debido a accidentes
