Maine: The Wilder Half of New England

When I bought this book I assumed I would get a little bored with it, but I wanted to read it anyway to learn more about my own state. I was in for a great surprise! This is one of the best books about Maine I have ever read. It is interesting from beginning to end. Also it is such an easy, enjoyable read that I hated to put it down.The art and photographs are a pleasurable added bonus. I just had to buy a second copy to send to my close friends in Texas who are from Maine.

This was the only Christmas request from my husband. He used to work with the author and I know he will be delighted to open it on Christmas day. I can't wait!

This book has been deemed poorly written by everyone in my college history class. It jumps around way too much and its just hard to follow it.

A concise, dramatic yet lighthearted narrative full of great facts and interesting stories about the 23rd state. An excellent read even for those who think they know everything about the history of Maine.
