It's COLD inside!
House has central A/C but the master bedroom (12 x 15) stays hot because it gets the most sun (live in FL) and is furthest from the A/C unit. I've had to turn the central air down to 76 to keep the bedroom at 80. Decided to try a portable unit (HOA prohibits window units) to see if that would do the trick. Got an excellent deal from Amazon Warehouse on a used "Like New" unit. Happily, no problems and it's working like a champ (I've hung onto the box, just in case). Gets downright cold in bedroom now. Because the whole house is under A/C, this unit probably won't have to contend with removing humidity. Nevertheless, I placed it in a water heater drip pan. Better safe than sorry until I'm sure there won't be a leak. I also wrapped and taped the duct with Reflextic Wrap which probably helps efficiency. I don't think it's too loud, but then again, I sleep with a white noise app. Won't need that now. Overall, I'm very pleased with this unit. If anything should change, I'll update accordingly. For now, I definitely recommend it!Update: 7-04-19I've had this unit for 3 years now and it runs every single night for about 9 months of the year. Other than washing the filter monthly, there has been no maintenance required. This thing lowered my electric bill $50/mo because I no longer need to cool the entire house at night....just the master bedroom. That's well in excess of $1000 over the past 3 years. The only time I've removed the hose from the window is during a hurricane. Once the power is restored, it goes right back into the window and back to work. My house A/C is probably going to last longer because of this little unit, too, because it doesn't have to work as hard 24/7. The one issue I had is that the MBR circuit is only 15 AMP and we have a lot of power fluctuations so it would occasionally pop the circuit. I bought an appliance-rated extension cord, plugged it into an outlet on the master bath circuit (turned out it was only 6' further along the wall), and no problems since. If this unit ever conks out, I'll be ordering another the same day.

It's an okay air conditioner, if you know how to treat it.
I bought this product in 2018 for my living room, which I assessed to be 450 square feet. However, it doesn't completely cool the room. It makes it comfortable around 76 to 77 degrees depending on the temperature outside. I wish I would have bought a 12,000 or 14,000 BTU model. I just thought it would be overkill for my living room, but in retrospect it would have made a difference. Now I am using it this year, and this is where additional problems occurred. We had a heat wave in our area for about three days. Temperatures reached about 95 degrees but it felt like 100 degrees in actuality. The air conditioner worked okay the first two days, considering what I just stated previously. However, on the third day it would continually affect my circuit breaker. At least three times i needed to turn back on the power in my apartment, because the circuit breaker was tripped. So on the last day of the heat wave i was stuck in extreme humidity and heat on the hottest day of the heat wave. The day after the heat wave i thought the unit conked out on me. I read reviews in which it would cost about $75.00 to $100.00 to send it back to Honeywell and get it fixed. I read horror stories from the reviewers about Honeywell not honoring warranties. Therefore, I decided to call some local air conditioner repair shops. The first shop I called said we don't service your particular device because it would be hard to get the part. I called another place and they told me to bring it in but wouldn't give me an assessment over the phone which worried me. I was frustrated. Therefore, I looked online to see what I can do. Visited various sites and received recommendations. The obvious recommendation was to clean the filter (which I do every two weeks). The one recommendation that appeared to work for me was to make sure when you set the thermostat, make sure it is 5 degrees lower than temperature in your room. That helped a lot. The air conditioner is working now as i am typing this review. So the point of this review: The device is okay when it comes to cooling your room but don't overexert it. I used to put the thermostat on 61 every time I started it up, I changed that behavior and now I put it five degrees below the temperature in the room, and continue to decrease it by five degrees to a desired, comfortable temperature. If you push it, it will not respond well and just cut off!

The hardest part was getting it out of the box
This is our combination bedroom air conditioner plus white noise generator (we live on a busy street). The hardest part was unpacking, and that was straightforward. Don't unpack until you get the airconditioner on the floor you're going to use it one. Once there, cut the straps and lift off the top half of the box. Remove all the plastic wrappings, and wheel it to its destination. Assemble the hose and window mount, connect the hose to the AC, then put the window mount with the exhaust outlet into the window. Now let it sit for an hour for the coolant to settle in place. Manually open the louver on the top is air can flow. You're done. After a week of operation it's doing MUCH better with the 90F+ weather we've been experiencing and can cool the room to 68F in the evenings, which is how we like it, especially when a 55 lb dog snuggles up between the humans. It is easier to use the remote than the touch-pad display on the unit, which is hard to read unless you bend down to get at eye level.Clean the dust screens often, especially if you have four-legged shedding machines as we do.This unit replaced an 8000 BTU LG portable air conditioner, which was about five years old and slowly declining. I'll give the LG a good vacuuming out (some dust in the heat exchanger fins in spite of frequent cleanings of the dust screens -- dog hair!) and see if it recovers enough to be used in a home office.
