Fun, cheap thrill but not without flaws!
If you have any VR headset that uses your phone for display and a gaming PC, be sure to try out the TrinusVR app!!! Check it out and thank me later!...Onto my review now...Due to my impatience waiting for OcolusVR I ordered a few different styles of VR headsets to try with my Note 4. I tried the one that has the flap on the front that opens up to place your phone inside and it holds your phone inside by multiple little suction cups. For many other phones that one would have worked fine but with the odd "leather" texture on the back of the Note it wouldn't hold grip on the phone at all, so within 20 seconds it was falling off. The build quality was fine but that one issue kept it from being worth messing with.So after the first headset was a fail, I started testing the second one out. This one, which is actually open in the front where your phone goes, is much better and completely eliminates the issue I had with the suction cups! At first it can be confusing looking bc it looks really small and locked to a certain size, but it actually expands out height and width wise very easily to accommodate multiple sized phones. This design is great for multiple reasons...1 being bc no more suction cups, 2 the phone is completely open on the back side so is ventilated much better than the closed in styles which is great bc running VR content seems to heat phones up fast! 3 bc when not in use it can be collapsed to it's smallest size making it much easier to store it and just looks cleaner/sleeker.The previous set I used only had pupil focus adjustments but this does that and lens focus. Didn't think I'd use it much, but when my lady uses it she has to adjust the lens focus pretty drastically to get it just right for her eyes.No matter what set you go with, please make sure you get one that has the magnet slider("button") on the side!!! In almost EVERY app I've tried it was required to use it for making selections. They make them without the slider and include Bluetooth remote but the functionality on those is severely limited! So let me emphasize...GET ONE WITH THE MAGNET SLIDER!!!Ok so now for the thing that has justified this purchase 10x over! It's an app called TrinusVR and it is absolutely awesome! It allows you to stream any game/video from your PC directly to your phone either by Wi-Fi or direct USB tethering. It automatically converts the video feed into side-by-side 3D and implements motion tracking from your phone directly into the games allowing you to control the camera in game by looking around, just like you would with an Ocolus. You can test it out free with full functionality but limited to 15 minute sessions, if you enjoy it and it works good for you the full unlocked app is only $6.50. Even if not a hardcore gamer I recommend trying some games out through the app, it'll help you appreciate the VR tech much more than most of the stuff out currently...Ok so that's my positives for the headset, but it's not perfect so now time for some of the negatives I've found in my use...First and by far most aggravating! So the way this thing holds the phone is the cause of a problem that I've found no way to completely avoid. To place your phone in it you have to place one side in, then the other. If the phone you use with it has the power button on the side and is a larger phone (Notes or iPhone6+ types) it will be a snug fit which is good for holding it in place but it is then very easy to accidentally hit the power button! Which for me meant then taking the phone back out, unlocking screen, setting whatever video/app I was using back up and doing my best to get it in the headset without hitting button again. Once you get it in it's fine since it sits in a recessed groove, but with most apps requiring you to remove the phone and select next thing to play it can become quite a frustrating issue very quickly!!!2. This unit out of the box has no padding on/around the nose, it's not a huge deal in the first few minutes but if using it for any extended amount of time it gets rather uncomfortable..They do include a little foam piece that can be cut and placed in the nose area but it's slightly too thick so when using it, it lifts the headset off of your face just slightly enough to let light in from around you. It may not seem like a big deal but when trying to focus on the screen on the other side of the lenses the shine and reflection on the plastic around the eyes can be very distracting and lessen the experience...Overall I still enjoy the headset and it pairs nicely with the Note 4 when I can get it in without turning off my screen! Content is still pretty limited for now but plenty enough out to justify picking one of these up.If you are expecting Ocolus or PSVR level performance from these types of headsets, DON'T! This is just a cheap entertaining way to get a lesser sample of what their future will bring. Also if you have an old phone with a less than great screen you are probably going to be very disappointed with the experience, so if you do buy one keep your expectations very low!

Great VR unit for the money- especially for movie watching!
I am using this with the Note 4 and also have the Gear VR to compare to:This seems the same product as the Sunnypeak version that a friend at work let me test out, but this seems to have a little wider field of view. The build is adequate for the function and I like that you can adjust the pupil distance and focus for each lens and the way the phone attaches. No offense to my Gear VR, but movie image quality seems better on this device. The Gear VR is too close and like being in the front row. Immersion is great on the Gear, but the screen door effect is significant and there is a loss of detail. The image quality with the Teefan is brighter, sharper and less screen door effect. The view is like being about 30% back in the theater rather than very front rows like the Gear VR Note 4 version.I mainly watch movies with the Note 4 since the Gear VR function gets hot with gaming. I would NOT have bought the Gear VR had I had the opportunity to purchase this first (and knew that gaming ran hot with Gear VR). This device is lighter and also no fogging like the Gear VR. Note 4 is perfect for this device since uses the entire display with no cut-off (unlike the Homido which does cut-off larger displays).Note: I use Cmoar which provides barrel and filed of view adjustments. The app is $7, but IMO worth it. Fulldive seems amateurish in comparison since there is no way to make image adjustments and a lot of the display space is wasted with the UI. Were it not for Cmoar, my opinion of the Teefan would not be as good, since generic VR sets usually need image optimizing. The one ding is I need to come up with a cushion solution for the nose area since only plastic there.

Good price, good quality, and good fun!
This is my first VR set I've really used so I don't have much to compare it to, but for $21 bucks, I'm having a hard time finding much to complain about. It fits my LG V10 just fine and the magnetic switch works well. The field of view seems adequate though sometimes I can see the left screen with my right eye a little. The lenses are nice and large and the adjustments offered are suitable for my needs. The strap is also built and attached well. Probably my only complaint is that it's a tad painful on my nose, even with the optional padding stuck on, but it wasn't so bad I had to take it off and I do a have a larger than average schnoz too so...All in all, speaking as someone who bought this as his first VR kit, I recommend buying this for your first VR kit. Good price, good quality, and good fun!

Better than cardboard
It's made of cheap parts, especially the lenses. The strap is kind of useless for me because it presses the headset so close to my face and the soft parts of the set aren't that soft. However it is more durable than cardboard, and works fine with all the google cardboard apps I threw at it via my iPhone 6. The magnet control works great as well. It did not come with a QR code for cardboard so you'll have to generate your own with a ruler and some patience at the google cardboard site. Overall very pleased with the purchase. (the instruction are in hilariously bad engrish)

Very uncom
I want to give 4 stars but I just can't ! Incredibly uncomfortable to wear. Not the headband, it's pretty good. But the parts touching face and nose, I couldn't even stand for 4 min video. I really tried to make it but, No! It's just not good. FYI: I'm not fat and have a regular nose :)By the way, if you want to use this item on Samsung Note 3, get something else. It fits on Note but screen doesn't divided proportionally. You've been warned!

Not functional on a nexus 6p
The magnet switch is on the wrong side for the nexus 6p the magnetometer is on the opposite end of the phone. just flip it over you say!? Well it gets the magnet working but now the screen is upside down and as far as I can tell there is no way to get the app too flip so I'm stuck pulling the magnet off and just waveing it around like a weirdo when I open any cardboard apps
