After completing the final installment of her best-selling SEX STORIES trilogy in 2013, controversial French director Ovidie returns with her provocative new film, PULSION. She explores the concept of sexual addiction, following the story of one woman's attempt to cure herself of this condition. As always, Ovidie combines a French art house sensibility with explicit sexual content, always telling her story from a feminist perspective. Please be warned that the film contains nudity and explicit sex, and is intended for an adult audience. With PULSION, Ovidie is back!

There is a lot to like in this movie
There is a lot to like in this movie. It’s sexy, witty, well filmed and acted, and has a good sound track.NOTE: The movie is in French with subtitles.Synopsis: (some spoilers, but hopefully not too many). A group of men and women are at a clinic in France for “experimental therapy” to treat various sexual dysfunctions. In the beginning of the film we see the lead character, Eva, a beautiful redhead portrayed by French adult film actress Emy Russo, struggle with her particular problem. When her problem almost gets her fired from her job she seeks help and the doctor recommends that she attend this clinic that he runs.Eva arrives with the others at the clinic which is housed in a mansion on a large estate. We meet all of the patients in a classic AA style introduction. “Hello, my name is Eva. My problem is…….” Each of the participants has a different sexual problem, some of which are funny, like the man who is constantly worried that his penis will fall off or disappear. The doctor and his female assistant then lay out the rules and begin with group therapy followed by individual counselling sessions. This is when the fun, and the sex, begins.Immediately some of the patients find a way to get around the rules and there’s a threesome, two men and a woman, outside at night in the dark. It’s a funny scene as well as a sexually explicit one. Some of the treatments that the doctor and his assistant prescribe, and the effects that they have on the patients, are hysterically funny. The doctor, it turns out, has his own issues and his sexy assistant, Olivia, is not above mixing it up with some of the patients. There is a lot of sex in the film. It is well acted, well filmed and graphic. Most of the actors and actresses are French adult film stars. This is not a soft core Cinemax movie. It’s definitely X-rated. I thought that the sex scenes were not gratuitous and were integral in moving the story forward. The fact that they were also very erotic and stimulating was a bonus. Most reviews don’t discuss sound tracks, but I will briefly. The music in the movie matched the mood on the screen perfectly. The music was a subtle accompaniment to the film, never overwhelming the action. There are no great crescendos, but rather a soft, understated leitmotif throughout the movie.Overall this movie gets 5 stars from me. The director, Ovidie, has put together a witty, intelligent, sexy, funny film. The one criticism that I have of the DVD is that the bonus feature: “Behind the Scenes: The Making of Pulsion,” is in French only with no subtitles. The film itself is great.

This was a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. It really showed how the director of the Clinic for Sexual problems was able to help these individuals and provided all the explicit sex scenes showing the results.

Girls, save your money.
It's this woman's opinion that Pulsion is a waste of time and money. I give at least 3 stars to any movie with at least ONE good long slow scene of a woman being aroused and pleasured - by either a man or a woman - even in the absence of a good story, even in another language. All I want is one scene to replay - visuals. For me this film has nothing to recommend.

Pulsion Doesn't Pulsate
The story centers around Eva (Emy Russo) who chronically masturbates up to twenty times a day. It's affecting her performance at work as her boss verbally chews her out, criticizing her for her frequent trips to the bathroom during the workday. She goes see her therapist who diagnoses her with Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder (PGAD). She attends a week-long retreat hosted by her therapist and his assistant Olivia. She meets other people with sexual problems: Laurent (Bruno SX) and Laurence (Tiffany Doll), a married couple who's battling relationship problems because Laurent can only get off when he sees his wife with other men; Melanie (Angell Summers) a risk-taker, Chris, a man who mopes about and has commitment issues; Franck (Tony Carrera), a fetishist, and Cedric (Phil Holliday). There isn't a sex scene until twenty-five minutes into the movie and it was a threesome involving Angella Summers, Carrera, and Holliday which took place late at night. Since it took place late at night, the guys were using flashlights to see themselves and the woman. The second sex scene was an outdoor orgy which took place in broad daylight. The therapist was conducting an outdoor group session but leaves for a few minutes and leaves his assistant Olivia in-charge to look after his patients. All hell breaks loose and it's a wild orgy. Neither scene made much of an impression on me: It was not arousing, certainly not worth waiting twenty-five minutes in anticipation for.A silver lining in the movie was Tiffany Doll. She had this sweet, innocent girl-next-door sexuality about her. Her scene with Bruno where they have sex in-front of a mirror was the highlight of Pulsion. And Emy Russo's scene with Chris was sensual; slow build-up, soft music. She kisses him all over his body, slowing taking off his underwear. However, those sex scenes were brief at seven and eight minutes each, respectively. The rest of the movie was a group therapy session of people dealing with their compulsions, perversions, and disorders. It's an adult movie which is heavy on plot, short on sex scenes. In the end, Pulsion doesn't pulsate.

French adult film
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I was pleasantly surprised. It touched a lot of emotions. Resentment, regret, humor, disgust, lust, and honesty. It's what an adult film of this genre should be ... entertaining and explicit.

Fascinating erotica
An interesting film. It was explicit and amusing at various parts. I thought the acting was great, which I wasn't expecting for this level of nudity and sexuality. I was actually interested in the story line. Will recommend!
