SAMSUNGC500 Series S27C500H 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor

Take it from someone with a discerning eye for image quality, this monitor has a great picture. It's natural, realistic, and vibrant, with accurate colors and a good viewing angle. White tends to be a tad on the warm side, which can easily be adjusted with the built-in color settings. However, I find the white balance pleasing, so I'll leave it alone unless I'm doing serious photo editing. The screen is very bright, but comfortable to look at for hours on full brightness. I also appreciate that it's 1080p, great for watching HD movies in their native resolution. I've seen screens with slightly better picture, so in that regard I'd give it a 4/5, but considering the reasonable price and excellent build quality, I give it a 5/5 overall.The default picture settings were nearly perfect, right out of the box. I only had to change one setting, and that was choosing Gamma Mode 2. I ran Windows Display Color Calibration and found that the gamma was slightly off. Rather than change it in Windows, I used the monitor's built-in gamma setting. I recommend running Display Color Calibration on any new screen, and correcting any issues in your monitor's settings, rather than changing the Windows settings. But I'm picky about color, and most people probably wouldn't even need to adjust these settings.Many monitors have inconvenient buttons and cumbersome menus, but Samsung's interface is great. Rather than physical buttons, the controls are touch-sensitive areas. They bring up a menu not in the center of the screen, but just above the controls, with arrows clearly indicating the function of each button. A quick menu comes up first, allowing you to adjust the brightness, input type, or select a Magicbright preset, making it easy for the novice user to tweak basic settings. Press the menu button a second time and you get the advanced settings, including color balance, sharpness, upscaling modes, Eco mode, and the aforementioned gamma setting. The list of options is pretty extensive and gives you control over fine details, but as I mentioned, everything is set up pretty well right out of the box.The monitor itself looks attractive, with a subtle shade of red beneath the black exterior. As others have mentioned, there's no way to mount it, and there's no height adjustment, but there is tilt adjustment.On the downside, there's no DVI input. This is common with newer monitors, so if you only have DVI out, you'll need to purchase a DVI-to-HDMI cable. I don't recommend using VGA as it has an inferior picture quality. There are no built-in speakers (which usually sound awful anyway.) Those are really the only nitpicks I can find about this monitor.Samsung is known for good, solid hardware, and this monitor is no exception. Although it's a little on the cheaper side, and more expensive models might have a few extra bells and whistles, this monitor looks great and has nice features. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Bought this as a replacement for an old(er) Dell LCD as the back lighting was starting to annoy me greatly. White hotspots where the fluourescent lighting was concentrated was getting in the way of editing pictures. It was impossible to turn the brightness down from 100 because doing so gave me intense headaches, a known problem with older LCD screen tech. So... time for something newer with better backlighting controls.I saw a 27" Samsung similar to the model I bought on Amazon at a local store, and the difference in color clarity was pretty good between it and the Dell. I wasn't able to get the local one before it went off sale, so I ordered on Amazon instead. I've been pleased with the panel and display quality. The only nit i have to pick (I'm not a professional artist, so the color quality is fine for me) is the light plastic stand and tilt hinges near the base on the back. I'd prefer the tilt to hinge in the middle of the back instead, with a beefier support.Still, color quality is nice for a non-pro like me, I don't get backlight flicker headaches, 27" is a good improvement over 22" from the Dell, the menu controls are adequate, the Samsung uses half the power of the Dell (25W vs. 50W), and with shipping I only paid slightly more than the local sale price. Good deal all around.

Supposedly this was "used - like new" not necessarily in the original packaging. When it arrived, it was in original packaging, but it had obviously been opened. The monitor was in perfect condition and everything was in the package. It was very easy to assemble -- the monitor itself is very light. Within minutes I had everything up and running. I had to tone down the brightness from 100% because it was bright enough to hurt my eyes. My sense is that this monitor is capable of working in the brightest of settings.In short, the monitor presents a beautiful, flawless computer screen. I also like the aesthetics -- the basically black color has a faint rich brown-red hue that goes perfectly on a wooden desk, but would be hardly noticeable in other settings -- nicely subtle.

I bought this over a year ago and now it doesn't work when did monitors start only lasting 1 year? Do yourself a favor and don't buy this monitor or you will just be buying another one a year later!

Beautiful monitor quality, nice and bright...however, there are no VESA mounts on this. The stand is a bit flimsy and doesnt solidly hold at the desired angle. The power brick is bulky and non-standard. and the HDMI ports are poorly constructed to where my connection keeps dropping off.

Decent monitor with some SERIOUS design flaws.I own 8 monitors in my house...not tv's, monitors. I bought this monitor for my wife’s home desk setup. 6 of them are Samsungs..... that will NOT be the case in the future. Samsung has fallen far and hard.Pro's-1-Its big and the image quality is good. NOT great but good.2-The monitor itself is attractiveCONS:1-Only 2 connection ports. 1 hdmi and 1 vga ... SERIOUSLY FOR 300.00 FRAKING DOLLARS ONLY 2 CONNECTION PORTS?2-With only 2 pathetic connection ports your aimed at professionals... so a pro monitor with NO VESA MOUNT?3-The entire back is one plastic shell and a horrible weak, ill fitting one at that. Granted the back doesn’t need to be awesome but still.4-No height adjustment. Again for a 300.00 monitor it should have EVERYTHING!5-300.00!!!! for this mediocre monitor it should be closer to 200.00. There is NOTHING that makes this monitor worth its price tag.

I bought this in 2013. It’s been 10 years and is still my primary gaming screen with zero issue. I’m only revisiting this page because I’m buying a second one of these and my 2nd monitor (different brand) is now gone. Excellent quality monitor. If I would have any complaints it’d be for the non-adjustable stand. It’s adequate but the fact that you cannot adjust it is frustrating.
