BG Climbing - Belay Glasses for Rock Climbing

I bought these because I have neck issues. After belaying for my daughter for a couple hours of craning my neck it would be killing me. So I gave these a try. Love em. Well constructed. Fit well. Neck saver.

I wore these belay glasses for 3.5 years of once-weekly climbing (~180 climbs) before one of the temples finally snapped. Over the years I lost two screws, so I’d recommend using Loctite (or another threadlocker) to keep them secure. The glasses come with extra screws, though, so losing one isn’t a disaster. They were comfortable, gave my neck a break, and probably saved my eyes from plenty of falling chalk. The carrying case was also surprisingly well designed - it even has a little pouch for the cleaning cloth and extra screws. Great value for the money, IMO. Great gift for a climber in your life, or a gift idea for yourself if you have a friend looking to buy you something. I’m now trying a $70 pair from REI whose case *doesn’t* include a spot for the cleaning cloth. We’ll see whether they last 3× as long...

I LOVE these. I started bouldering only a few years back. When I discovered top rope I fell in love with the sport all over again and I was hooked. But it killed my neck when I was on belay for a partner and having to constantly look up. As I was training with some friends for my lead certification I saw one of them pull out a pair of these. I asked to try them and I was hooked. They save your neck so much pain. Since I got my own pair every partner asks to try them and everyone freaks out about how clear the prism lens is. Then they realize how much strain it saves on the neck, once you get used to the odd feeling you have at first as your vision and equilibrium stabilize after a few seconds. Very much worth the money.

Great glasses but I lost a screw after only 3 months of use. Good thing there is an extra screw in the case but now I have to buy a mini screw driver! Plus I will need to apply loctite to prevent the screw from getting loose again. This should not happen!

Work as they should. Comes with a cloth to clean them and extra screws for repair if needed. Have a nice adjustable band to keep them in place. Works great and the price is even better than some of the other options available. They weigh basically nothing. So far they look nice and you can see very clearly. They’re pretty comfortable mine a still a little tight but I’m sure they’ll loosen up with time like normal glasses. Seem pretty sturdy to me also.

My brother got a detached retina a few weeks ago. Before that, I had never heard of such a thing, but it comes with age (he's 75) if your eyeball is too much out of round. I have since discovered that this is not as uncommon as you'd think. But here's the thing. In most cases the optometrist removes the retina and replaces it with a new one. BUT, the eye is then flooded with oil and the patient has to KEEP HIS HEAD DOWN AT ALL TIMES FOR AT LEAST A WEEK! to keep the lens floating up so it will attach to the eyeball. Sleeping, eating, walking. All the time. Wondering if there was such a thing as angled mirror/prism glasses I discovered that they made them for people that wanted to read a book in bed lying on their back. Close, but the mirrors in that case face down. Wondering if they made any that could be reversed I went Googling and came up with this. Now, my bro, in his youth, did a lot of rock climbing and thought the idea of using these when belaying someone was a pretty silly idea, and really unnecessary. BUT, when I sent them to him as a gift he was amazed they made such a thing, and (here's the important part) they worked great! So that's the story, and if you run across this review by accident, keep that information and share it with everyone you know. On last thing. He's keeping them after he no longer has to keep his head down because if one eyeball gets a detached retina chances are very high that it will happen to the other eye eventually. If that happens, he'll be ready.

Love this especially when your the person on the ground belaying your kid.. lol my neck would start to hurt from taking him to climbing gyms and thesekeep me from. Die Brille funktioniert wie zu erwarten, man kann beim Sichern eines Kletterers bequem nach Oben sehen, ohne einen steifen Nacken zu bekommen. Vor allem bei hohen Kletterrouten sehr zu empfehlen. Praktisch dabei, die Brille an an einem Band um den Hals gehängt werden, damit sie nicht verloren geht. Das Brillenetuis macht den Transport einfacher und passt obendrein gut an den Klettergurt.
