I really like the look of these 1-2" natural stones. They compliment the logs and retain heat which help emit additional heat when the gas is turned down. These are a good value and worth the money. I definitely recommend this product.

I have a standard propane fire pit from Lowe’s and I was over the lava rock look. I updated with these rocks and love the look! It took 2 bags to make it full enough.

More gray than deep black color, but good enough to use on my little camp firepit.

Here is the Standard Review for Black Lava Rocks. We did not like the look of the red lava rocks that came standard with our outdoor gas fire pit. The quality of these lava rocks is great, they look nice, have a consistent size, and work well in a fire pit. The dark black color gives the fire feature a clean, finished look, and they handled the heat without cracking or popping. Each rock feels solid and well formed, and they give off that classic, natural look you want around a flame. They also arrived clean with very little dust, which made them easy to use right away. That said, I was surprised by how small the total amount looked once I opened the bag. It is definitely not the company’s fault since the weight is accurate, but the rocks are heavier than they appear, so the volume seems smaller than expected. If you are covering a larger area, you will probably need many bags, which would get expensive.

The black lava rocks come in a bag still covered in dust from the rolling process. The dust can be cleaned off using an air compressor in an open area, and then the rocks can be lightly coated in mineral oil to bring out their color. Some rocks have more gray mineral than others making them a lighter color after the oil soaks in. Some of the rocks are almost completely black so if multiple bags are ordered the darker ones can be arranged on top of the lighter ones if that is the look you're going for. I've included a photo of freshly oiled vs non oiled rocks.

Exactly as described

The contents I received were not lava rock, they were regular tumbled rocks which are quite heavy and were not what I was expecting for the fire pit I intended to use them in. They look nice and would be well suited for decorative use, but are heavy and expect a small quantity for the 20lb quantity.
