Weller WESD51 Digital Soldering Station Includes 4 Additional Tips- Screwdriver/Chisel Tip Bundle, ETA, Etb, ETC, Etd (2-(Pack))

I've been using 2 old wellers 23 watt & 40 watt iron for years. Always wanted a unit that was temp. controlled, looked at a bunch of stations for a few months. looked at costs on accessories & replacement parts & so on. Narrowed it down to 2 units wesd51 & wes51 analog & it's reputation! Found this station w/xtra tips, opened it up & tinned the tips & let it warm up at lowest setting, then at 600 Deg. then 850 Deg. Now it's time to play, I'm a HAM operator & do a lot of soldering. pulled out the coax cable & connectors and went to work! put the ETC tip on, set temp at 600. The coax I use has solid 16 gauge core wire & it has braided shield strand wire on the out side, with foam insulation rapped around core. The station did an excellent job, had to turn temp. down it was melting foam insulation too much after that, good to go! I've had the unit for 3 days now & really have not put it thru It's pace yet. The only thing I would like, is to know what the actual tip temp. is at. But I'm looking into this, Overall, so far, I would recommend this station! Only dislike is the connector for iron to unit, but we will see how it stands up over time. I like how the iron fits to hand & burn free cord, easy tip change over, easy to read display. I've used the lock out feature to see if it works. but don't think I will really use it that much. For the $ It's a good buy !!

Having always used bottom of the bin soldering irons and stations, this Weller made a world of difference. I occasionally repair vintage computer hardware, and desoldering large IC's is a breeze with this soldering station. It keeps temperature very well which prevents burning your pcb or not properly desoldering pins. Swapping out a big IC with 48 pins takes all of 10 minutes now, instead of up to an hour and a couple of broken traces.Couldn't recommend it more if I could, even if you're not a pro. For this price it's a steal and it will save you much frustration.

This soldering station is simple and great. What have I been doing with the crummy one I had for years? I should know better being a Software/Automotive electronics tinkerer guy.

So far, so good. Much better than the el cheapo Radio Shack ones. I wish I bought this years ago.

Although this is a new product, so far everything works great. Great shipping and packaging. I had my last weller station over 20 years. I would to have gotten the K111 test tip.

Had one at work for years, finally bought one for myself.

SO worth it! Heats up in seconds. Dial in the temp and not have to guess. If you do any amount of soldering, this is an obvious choice.
