Best draining loaf pan I have used
I use this for meatloaf, since it allows the excess grease to run out. You have to be careful lifting the pan, not to lift by the handles until you really are ready to pull the meatloaf out of the pan. Other than that caution, I whole-heartedly recommend this pan. We went through 2 other draining loaf pans before, both non-stick. That was a mistake because the non-stick surface is nearly impossible to avoid scratching and scraping as you loosen the meatloaf to lift it. Once the surface is scratched, I really consider the pan ready to throw out or repurpose. This pan is a sturdy aluminum, no fancy surfaces. I have no problem removing the meatloaf. It drains very well and lifts the meatloaf very neatly out of the pan. It seems to be well made and I look forward to many more meatloafs with this fabulous pan!

A Quality Product
As soon as you take it out of the packaging, you see that this is a quality product. It's Nordic Ware. I have bought other items they make. Same quality, all the time. In the first place, this replaces two "non-stick" copper or whatever junk I had mistakenly bought before. After a while they do not non-stick any more and sometimes, as other reviewers point out, the coating comes off. But, a quick spray with Pam or another spray brand, and this is easy to clean. It has metal heft, which means even heating/cooking and it works all the time. As for those reviewers who say that all such meat loaf pans have the insert that lies too deep, I suggest either leaner ground beef, which is healthier anyway, or a piece of rolled aluminum foil under the insert's rim to raise it a little bit. This is a great product, still made in the USA, by a quality firm. And, it is less expensive. "nuff said."

AMERICAN MADE!
There are a lot of pans like this for sale on Amazon. I think this is the only one that's actually made in the USA. There's a brand called Chicago brand. But they're made in China. I had to do a couple on line searches to finally find this company. I was familiar with the company. But they just didn't come mind at the time. This pan is very sturdy. I expect more than my life time out this pan. I love the trivet that comes with it. No more having to cut the meatloaf in the pan. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. Especially, if like me you are looking for American made products.

Does the job
I just made meatloaf using this pan for the first time. I didn't feel there was enough room for the grease/juices to drain so I rolled up some foil in a cigar shape and placed under the two handles to raise the insert up a little more. That was enough to prevent the meat from sitting in the grease while cooking. I cooked 1 1/2 lbs. of meat (1 lb. of 80/20 ground beef and 1/2 lb. of ground pork). There was also about 1 cup of cooked veggies in the mixture. There was enough room in the pan and there was no grease overflow during cooking. I was very happy with the result and the meatloaf was not dry at all. While I was cleaning up the dinner dishes I let the pan soak in some warm, soapy water. I used a Scotch-Brite Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge and the pan cleaned up fine. I did notice that there was a little discoloration on the inside of the pan and more noticeable discoloration on the bottom of the insert. Not sure if this was due to some type of chemical reaction during cooking. I used a 350F oven. Overall, I don't have any major complaints. I just wish the insert sat a little higher but I have found a workaround for that.

Needs strainer to be raised higher
I purchased this pan then contacted Amazon with dissatisfaction. The strainer trivet was so lose to the bottom no matter how little fat in the meat it would still sit in it while cooking. The trivet only sits under 1/4 inch from the bottom. Other pans I use have 1/2 inch. It's not only the fat but the juice from whatever you add in your meatloaf also needs to be able to drain in the bottom. I was disappointed as I wanted a pan that would not rust but this pan needs some attention to detail. UPDATE: My brother was able to bend the strainer so it sits higher and this has become my favorite go-to meatloaf pan! I just ordered a second one to have as a back up! Have someone with tools "reshape" the handle to raise it a little and you will be ecstatic! I'm now VERY happy with this pan. Super easy to clean, cooks great. I NOW highly recommend this pan!!!

Love this Nordic Ware Meat Loaf pan
I actually use this more for baking bread than I do for meat loaf. The "lifting trivet" is very useful to get whatever you've made out of the pan. The pan itself is easy to clean, which is good, because you can't put Nordic Ware in the dishwasher. Highly recommended

Love!
I absolutely love this brand. I have 1 Large/2 medium/ 2 small cookie sheets, and the roasting pan that comes with the metal grate on top. It holds up, does not rust, everything cooks evenly and easily cleans off. HIGHLY recommend this brand, you won’t be disappointed. PS, they are meant to be hand washed, but if you accidentally put it in the dishwasher you will expect some discoloration; however it’s still safe to use the pan per NordicWare. Can’t wait to make a meatloaf and banana bread in my new pan!

Made in Minnesota, by the same folks that originally brought you Bundt pans!
Ordered two of these, one for our house, and one for a new-to-the-midwest daughter-in-law. You betcha, meat loaf is darn near the state food of Minnesota, I'm told it was only narrowly beat out by the hot dish -- which brings us to cream of mushroom soup and that state's unwritten rule of always having several cans on hand...guess you never know when a church or PTA will randomly spring a pot luck dinner on you, LOL. Pro: the trivet makes a huge difference in end product being less greasy or oily, as the loaf doesn't sit in its own fat while cooking or resting just out fo the oven. The trivet has handles, which make removing a finished loaf from the pan easy as can be. Pan size comfortably holds a 2-pound meat loaf, so one loaf is plenty for a larger family family or having guests. Pan is made from durable aluminum, solid construction and rust proof, but not the trivet... Con: trivet is made of steel so it can start to rust if you leave it soaking overnight. Pan is sized for a 2-pound meat loaf, so (if smaller family or no guests) plan accordingly for a couple days of sandwiches from the leftovers. Only complaint is really with Amazon, and their insistence on a lack of adequate packing material -- expect to get a banged up new pan out of the box. Also, depending on the Amazon fulfillment center filling your order, you may get the naturals (has an embossed logo on bottom) or the commercial (stamped logo and NSF seal on bottom) version; we got shipped one of each, but found no discernible difference between the pans other than logo application. ***Update! Have since discovered Nordic Ware has a factory seconds discount store at its manufacturing facility in Minnesota. If don't mind that scratch or ding, you can choose your pan in person, at a discounted price to boot...sorry Amazon, kinda backed yourself into that competition corner by skimping on package padding :-(

Great bakeware
Shipping was a little odd since it went through 2 shipping companies, but came on time. Really happy with the results of my Meatloaf. The trivet made cleaning so easy. I would like to see how a bread loaf would turn out in this. Since I already owned Nordicware baking sheets I purchased at the wholesale store, I new it would be great quality.
