VERY SKEPTICAL AT FIRST.....BUT REALLY DOES WORK
I was VERY skeptical and was not sure about this product before I purchased it. But after reading a good amount of great reviews, I decided to give this one a try. I purchased it for only $8.99 and that was a much cheaper price than many of other scissors sharpeners that was available for sale on Amazon. Other ones costs $16.99 and up.I had a few pairs of crafts and sewing scissors that I have that use a lot, that through out the years have become very dull. I did not want to spend a lot of money getting it professionally sharpened because that service is very expensive. The cost of sharpening the tools would costs me way more $$$ than just going out and purchasing new ones. I don't have the money to go out and purchase a new pair of scissors for every old dull ones, and getting them professionally sharpened was an even worse option that I couldn't do. And I have a few pairs of scissors that the manufacturers don't make anymore, so replacing them was not an option. So the best solution for me was just to try and sharpen these tools as best as I can.So I got this item pretty quick, just 2 days after I purchased it.Out of the box, it looks very flimsy and simple. But, to my SURPRISE, it does really work!!!! You just stick your scissors into the 2 slots like you are cutting something. Actually move and use the scissors like you are cutting something, in a normal situation, using a little pressure. Repeat this for about 12-20 times. Your scissors should come out sharper than before you used this sharpening tool. It may not restore your scissors to its original condition (like when it was brand new), but I would say that I got about 80-85% of the result. So for $8.99 I got about 10 pairs of scissors sharpened. And this tool still works if I need to sharpen any of my scissors again or for more old scissors. That is a huge savings from having to purchase new scissors or get them professionally sharpened. LOVE it. Totally saved my scissors. Highly recommended.Forgot to add: Not for use with left-handed scissors, pinking shears, scissors with serrated blades or razor-edge scissors

Good sharpener for your Fiskars
Having cut out fabric for 1,600 non-surgical masks in the past 4 months, my scissors took a beating. I wore through my old plain ceramic Fiskars sharpener and had to get a new one. This one, while waaaay bigger than the old flat sharpeners I bought in the 80s is quite serviceable and effectively sharpens all but the largest shears. With my 2 pair of large shears, I had trouble fitting them in the opening to sharpen closest to the handles. Otherwise, it works great.

Great Way to Save Money on Scissors
*****This handy little scissors sharpener does what it is supposed to, and with just a few swipes sharpens scissors easily. It is light and easy to store in a drawer. You put the scissors in the two slots like you're cutting something, and then you close the scissors and--voila!--the scissors are sharpened after a few "cuts" or swipes. You don't need to line anything up because the slots do it for you.It can be adapted to be used either right-handed or left-handed. The instructions that come with the sharpener says that it can be used on "any stainless steel scissors that have a 30 degree cutting edge angle". I used mine on all of my scissors, which appear to be aluminum or some other inexpensive metal (I doubt they are stainless steel) and they sharpened them just fine. It does however also say not to use this sharpener with left-handed scissors or scissors with specialty edges. I think that this would be best used on any type of inexpensive scissors that most of us have around the house for general and craft use. It will save you lots of money in the long run because your scissors will last and last and while they last they'll be nice and sharp!Highly recommended.*****

Works well, but I wish replacement parts were available
I was a bit concerned when I noticed that Fiskars had started following the trend of a lot of companies and making products in China. However, my long relationship with their products led me to rake a chance on this sharpener. I have a few pairs of cheap scissors that could not be harmed, even by a poor sharpener. Some were nicked and all were "well loved". A little oil and a few passes through this sharpener put even these cheap scissors back into full service.I took the unit apart and noticed that the main elements resembled a sharpening steel. I looked online and did not find any replacement parts. You ARE able to reverse the elements which gives you a new sharpening surface. I guess Fiskars expects that when it gets dull, you will just buy a new one.Overall, this unit is well up to the quality I have come to expect from Fiskars.

Ho Hum...
I am not thrilled with this sharpener. Now, I do not expect any sharpener to put a brand new edge on a pair of old scissors but I had hoped to put a decent enough edge back on my favorite scissors that I use for sewing as I cannot find the scissors to buy a new pair anymore. :( That being said this did an OK job on part of my scissors. This put a usable edge on the scissors from about the middle to the end...however...the closer you get to the handle the less of a decent job it does. Unfortunately, the most common spot for beginning a cut is closer to the handle end of the blades...not the tips. It made that part of the scissors worse and it just wadded and frayed the fabric when I tried to cut. I tried several pair of scissors all with similar results. Paper scissors performed better than fabric scissors...but paper is easier to cut. In addition to the lack of sharpening performance, it is also quite flimsy. There are little metal rods that run vertically on the side of the sharpening rods...I am not clear on their purpose (my guess is for the scissor blades to hit rather than the plastic)...but after my second pair of scissors those two rods came loose and now flop into the openings where you put the blades to be sharpened. You can pop off the orange part (made so you can replace the guts I assume), open it up, and re position all the little parts...but I'm sorry...what a pain! And just not worth it to me...I'd rather buy a new pair of scissors since they are relatively inexpensive!

Worth a bit extra
This took a little longer than average to arrive, but I am pleased with it. It is much easier to hold than the small, albeit cheaper sharpeners and I liked the hint that 3 to 4 strokes should be enough.
