A slipper built for all climbers and for all terrain; the local gyms, Joshua Tree slabs and Indian Creek cracks. Its asymmetrical shape and low toe-profile accommodates all abilities. Beginner/intermediate climbers will fit these with a more relaxed toe curl. Advanced climbers may down size a bit for increased toe power.TRAX RubberTRAX XT high friction rubber is formulated to be the highest performing rubber on the market. TRAX XThas a perfect balance of high friction and edging power on different types of rock and plastic holds while performing consistently over a wide range of temperatures. evolv continually works towards being environmentally conscientious and sustainable. We realize that due to the nature of manufacturing we can never be fully green, but we strive to do our best to minimize harm to the environment. With this goal in mind, evolv and TRAX Rubber have developed eco-TRAX, a recycled content high friction rubber compound and started using it on products beginning Fall 2008, making evolv the first climbing shoe company to use a more environmentally friendly rubber on climbing shoes. The technology comes from decomposing selective pre & post consumer rubber waste and then reprocessing it to make a useable compound. Currently, 30% of the eco-TRAX compound used on select parts of outsoles is recycled material, however we plan to use a higher recycled percent compound on other applications that don't require maximum friction. VTR3DWith VTR3D, the high wear zone of the rand is thicker, while low wear areas are kept thin to reduce pressure points and hot spots around your foot.

Good performance and comfortability
Love these shoes. For slippers, they perform remarkably well. They're just stiff enough in the toes to be able to edge on most things (haven't had a chance to put them to use on slab yet, but they tackled some pretty thin face climbing pretty well). I feel comfortable heel hooking in these if need be, although I rarely do. They're very comfortable, too. Easy on and off, can walk around the gym/crag in them if need be, all is good. I've never used them on multipitch/crack routes, but I imagine they would fare well.As for SIZING: I ordered a size 9, because I had an old pair of Evolv Defy's which were size 9. These feel a bit tight all things compared. Given, they are real leather so they have stretched a bit to compensate, but they are still just ever so slightly tighter than my other Evolv shoes. Here's my advice: if you've worn Evolv's before, order two pairs of these shoes. One in the same size as your other pair, and one a half size bigger and just return the pair that doesn't fit. But remember: THEY WILL STRETCH A BIT.

Fit and why I returned mine
This fits true to size. I wear a 9.5 in street shoes and sized up to 10.5 but my toes had wiggle room and i had less edging power than I would had the toe box been snug.I returned mine because my feet are a little wide and i am flat footed. The way the elastic/leather/last transition on the insole was uncomfortable against the insides of my feet and would likely blister. I didn't have this problem with other evolv/la sportiva shoes.

Ya...these suck
Horrible shoes. They lasted about 3 weeks. They barely stretched, the toe boxes are super stiff on top so they hurt my toes and the worst part is that the elastic is already stretched out. Total waste of money! Would only recommed if you like burning hundred dollars bills

Four Stars
Good construction but fit was small. I actually returned them but plan to reorder oversized.

Advice for Beginner Purchasers
Great shoes for beginners (in my opinion, as a beginner myself). The shoes are exact-to-size in the sense that you should be climbing with shoes that are kind of snug on your toes. I wear a street size 10 and bought them size 10, and my toes are slightly curled at the front (feels uncomfortable for the first couple of goes, but not excruciating). The slight curl in your toes is necessary to put more power into the tips of your feet so you can climb on the holds that stick 1cm out of the wall (which are common place for intermediate climbs). The durability has been great so far after 20+ climbs in my indoor gym (bouldering). They pretty much can do all the maneuvers you'd need for bouldering and top-roping. If you experience pain, while climbing, I'd recommend that you take them off in between climbs and wiggle your toes a bit. With your toes slightly curled, I would not (repeat NOT) expect to take heavy falls on them as this is extremely painful. You should be rolling on falls or landing on soft padding. Overall, the slip-on aspect has been really convenient/secure, and they make a great first-time shoe, for me at least. P.S. they make your feet yellow (I climb without socks on, no odor develops in them so its okay).

Like the five ten moccasym
Like the five ten moccasym, but super narrow. Heel is also lower on my achilles and bites pretty deep (ouch). Traxx rubber is not as good as vibram or stealth, period. It's glassy and not sensitive. Doesn't seem to stop Sharma, but for us mortals there are better slippers, IMHO.
