I have used this for a muzzle, but also for a grazing muzzle. I cut a small hole in the bottom for grass. I love the rest of the muzzle because it's soft. It doesn't rub or annoy the horse and can stay on longer.

I’m going to use it for my young horse while ponying him. He is a bit mouthy!

I started to ride a different horse who tries to bite me every time I am tacking up, untacking, tightening girth etc. One time he bit me so hard it was very painful if you know what that feels like. This product is great! He no longer tries to bite me and I can be around him in peace without constantly worrying about being bitten or others being bitten that walk by him. I still have to watch out when he doesn’t have it on like when I am dismounting or tightening girth before mounting.

Bought for horse who was on stall rest & nipping me while hand walking & biting/fighting w/ his neighbor in stall. Good concept & is soft so it doesn’t rub him (not that I keep it on him unattended since not a breakaway.) but sizing is a bit funny. It hangs a bit low on his nose & yet the leather still touches his mouth the entire time. Pulls on poll area a tiny bit. He snorts a lot in it bc of his nose touching it. But it does the job. Just needs sizing fixed a bit.

This is a handy little item -easy to take on and off. Only issue is that the straps pass very close to the bottom of my mare's lower eyelids, so we have to watch for that when adjusting. I'm not sure if that's just the shape of my mare's face or if the side straps could be attached a little lower. We use this to keep our 10 hh pony from eating grass while being lightly ridden. Works great for this (would have to modify to open nostril area if she were in heavy work or it was very hot). Not sure how long it would stay on if our determined pony were left alone in a stall with it...but even so, it would come off safely.

Needed a muzzle to help curb our donkey's eating....to help prevent laminitis. It fits her well and I just cut a hole in the bottom so she can still eat some. It does not rub and cause skin irritations like the regular, heavier muzzles do. Very happy! Adding a comment after a month or so of use, the base begins to tear as the hole enlarges. Wish the bottom were made of stronger plastic.

Great product to prevent horses from snacking when ridden on trail rides, or when driving in harness. It works if you ride with or without a bit. I also use it to feed treats to horses while they are having ferrier work done. Just drop the treat in the side, they love it!

My horse is Insulin Resistant - a condition comparable to Diabetes in humans. I know that this muzzle is made to be worn in the stall and is not a grazing muzzle - however, when my horse got a sore nose from the heavier grazing muzzle, I purchased this one and cut a small hole in the bottom to allow him to graze but limit his intake. This muzzle overall is much lighter and softer than heavier grazing muzzles. I alternate between this one and the heavier grazing muzzle and it solves the problem of his nose rubbing raw. It also seems to be cooler on hot days.
