Size up.
It was alright, it didn’t fit me well and was to small I recommend you size up.

Not a true unisex - will not fit a curvy woman in her expected size
I wear a size 10 and ordered an XL for thigh room, but these shorts construct my thighs and don’t make it over my ass. I know I’m not a 2X-3X woman , it made me feel really bad about myself

Not big prop friendly
Runs small for bigger guys. More youth sized then adult

Large runs small, despite what the listing says
Ordered these for my son, and they were quite small. They were tight when he was standing, and they cut into his leg, when he lifted his leg. Anyone trying to play rugby in these would have trouble moving or would injure their private parts. They’re that tight. They are well made, though, and they’re made of a heavy canvas cloth that should hold up well to rugby play. So, we just ordered a size up.

Real shorts for the gym (vs basketball)
I found these and the Gilbert rugby shorts here on Amazon. These are what I think of when I think 'gym shorts". Everything today is like the strange basketball fashion where the shorts go down to the knees or lower. Not only do I want freedom of movement but I work hard on my legs and and don't mind showing off the hard work! These shorts are really good. I did flip them inside out and discovered a number of loose threads that were clipped and could have caused mischief later on. Compared to Gilbert I would give them four stars since they are bit lighter in material but that might be great in warmer climates. But I add a star for decent pockets and a good price. Oh and the brand is sewn into the left leg and not a "heat transfer" label. Nice! I wear a 36 and followed instructions and bought a 38. Smart. If they had a 40 I might snag those. They do run a bit tight so order a size up unless you're a bean pole.

Too small
Ordered XL as indicated should fit 40-42" waist. More equivalent to a size 36-38. Wish seller had more accurate size information listed.

Comfortable casual cotton, maybe not for pro use
I do not play rugby. If I stepped onto a rugby “field” (?) my bones would be broken quickly. That said… these are excellent casual shorts for everyday or light gym wear. I have long legs and get tons of compliments in them. It’s great they’re cotton. I have a 34 inch waist and large fits fine. Think Patagonia baggies but cotton, no liner, and half the price. I am buying another pair right now!

Quality inadequate
The quality of the fabric is good but the stitching is poor and the shorts fall apart in the wash at the stitches.

Nice material, a bit flimsy for " adult" rugby
Bought 2 pairs of these now. The pockets are an easy target if you're in the front row as the opposition tend to bind onto the shorts and they rip down the seam. Should have learned the 1st time

Good quality
Bought because they had pockets, handy for coaching rugby.

Perfect fit was happy with my order but they just ...
Perfect fit was happy with my order but they just couldn't keep it together when it came to training, literally. One squat and they'd split. Pay the extra money for better quality elsewhere. You might as well throw your money away ordering these shorts.
