Worked perfectly, didn't even have to disconnect the old one
This turned out to be less than a ten minute repair, mainly because I was replacing the same part that had quit filling the tank properly after 12 years of use.If you are in this same situation, note that as long as the base that connects to the water supply is in good shape (likely), you can just slide the lock ring toward the top of the valve assembly, pull the assembly off the base, and then replace it with the same part from the package. You don't even have to disconnect the water supply, drain the tank, worry about leaks, etc. There are YouTube videos on how to do this if needed.

Same design, same possible problems
Replaced the fill valve on my Kohler Wellworth Round Toilet. It's an OEM part, so it fits and works just fine. However, it's also the same design as the fill valve that had to be replaced and that is a bit of a problem, as my toilet is only a couple years old. I didn't expect to have to replace the fill valve so soon, particularly at about 10% of the original toilet's cost. The problem with the fill valve is the float, which leaks ever so slightly and allows water to get in there. After a while, the float will no longer float and the fill valve will not turn off. There is no way to repair the fill valve and it's got to be replaced. The same design means the possibility of the same problem in a few years. Kohler needs to redesign the thing.

No Need To Call A Plumber!...
Purchased this item, and watched a "how to" video on YT. Drained the toilet tank.. Took the old part out, put this baby in its place. No problems at all! The kicker is, due to injury, I did this one-handed! So, yes, it's easy! Later, the toilet hissed and ran a bit, due to float valve needing a turn. Turning it solved that immediately. Also, hose had popped out of top of canister in tank, causing bowl to only fill half as much as it's supposed to. Popped hose back in, turned float a tad toward canister, and PRESTO! A full bowl for all! Oh happy day!...

Works much better than Universal Fluidmaster
Our original fill valve failed pretty early in the life of the toilet by not allowing water to enter the tank without tapping the top of the fill valve. We originally tried replacing with a Universal Fluidmaster 400 equivalent. It worked but was much noisier than the original. So we purchased this unit and saw the difference. They are very similar but this unit has constriction on where the tube is attached. It may also be different near the bottom. With the old valve, it filled quickly but there was less water in the toilet bowl. This new one fills slightly slower and is much quieter and more pleasant than the universal unit. So we now understand why it is better. We hope it will last better than the OEM valve (which we tried cleaning and lubricating to no avail).

I bought this replacement fill valve for my Kohler class ...
I bought this replacement fill valve for my Kohler class 5 toilet because the description clearly states "Used on all class five toilets'. However when I received the product the packaging had a warning label that said FOR REPLACEMENT OF BLACK STEMMED VALVES - IF GREY USE REPALCEMENT PART GP1138930. Of course my stem is grey and it was not worth the expense of returning so I used it anyway as a replacement and despite the warning label it works perfectly. Other than the warning label I would have thought this is the exact replacement. I gave it 4 stars due to the fact that there was no mention of a grey vs black stem in the product literature on Amazon. The attached pictures show you the label waring and my Class 5 grey stemmed fill valve.

No issue with this fill valve's performance, but...
...a couple caveats regarding installation. As others have pointed out, the instructions are not very good. You'll need to match the height of the new valve to equal that of the one you're pulling out of your tank. The instructions state that in order to change the height of the valve, you hold the shank of the valve with one hand, while twisting the lower part of the valve with the other hand. Left out is the fact that in order to adjust the valve this way, you first MUST FIRST PUSH UP (thereby loosening) that gray, bulging lock collar that you see in the photo of the valve. Then, when you've adjusted the valve height, you slide the lock collar back down in place. It's an odd thing for them to have omitted. Another issue that torqued me slightly was that this valve does not include a new fill tube. The instructions direct you to remove the old one from your existing valve, and attach it to the new valve. This is simple step, but considering the cost of this fill valve, and the fact that it's "Genuine Kohler," I would have preferred a fresh new fill tube.

If you have a Kohler, buy Kohler parts
NOTE: Part numbers for flush & fill valves were cast in the lid, on the underside. If you are contemplating DIY, look there for the part numbers needed.OK, I am surely not a plumber. Not even a handyman. But do enjoy "getting my hands dirty".After flushing and refilling, I noticed the toilet adding water briefly repeatedly.Don't know whether the problem was with the fill valve (more likely) or the flush valve.Did know I didn't want to take the tank off for repair more than once, so ordered both valves. After removing shelving, tank, valves, and replacing new parts - toilet is working perfectly. At 72 years old I never work perfectly. In fact, all I can do today is type reviews ...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
Do not waste your time with this. I could not adjust the height on the one they sent me. I moved the grey locking sleeve up as suggested in the other comments but it still would not adjust. It just spins in place. Not giving you a replacement refill tube is sooo cheap. Talk about trying to save a penny. The little multi colored restrictors are a joke. Which one do I use?I had replaced my original fill valve with a Fluidmaster. The Fluidmaster works fine but is a little noisier than my original Kohler. That is why I bought this. However, in reading another review it does not appear this new Kohler is as quiet as the original. So a big waste of time for me. I returned it.

Very easy to install
Took me 10 minutes to replace the old one and install this one. Make sure you drain before removing the old one. I had no space to put a bucket under so I had to remove the water with a paper towel. The unit work fine. I was able to adjust it without any problems. No leaks after installation. The only problem I had was the the mini rubber hose supplied is too short and had to reuse the old one. In my case it worked fine. One note: my old fill valve was an original Kholer gray with a red cap and this one was perfect. The box mentions that this one works as a replacement for all fill valves but if I have the grey one then I should order another part. I didn't and this one works just fine.

Ordered the wrong one, used anyway.
Unfortunately, I should have ordered the gray fill valve. However, while the old one was still in place in the tank, it looked black, so I ordered the black one. When I took it out, I realized it was gray, but I decided to use the new black one anyway as I hate to return things. I had to guess at which color valve to use and don't know if I picked right. It works most of the time, a lot better than the old one, but still leaks water occasionally. It was fairly easy to install (for a 74-yr old non-handy woman) but only after reading the comments and directions from other users and watching suggested YouTube videos. Even so, I almost gave up on adjusting the length (even after pushing up the gray collar), but finally used some brute force and managed to pull it apart to adjust the length. Also, the sealant washers got stuck in the old one and I didn't notice them, so it leaked initially. After comparing the old one and the new one, I noticed the washers still in the old one, so pulled them out and reused them in the toilet hose connector. This stopped the leakage. Maybe eventually I'll buy the correct gray one.

Quiet and fills faster
After a bit of research I found that my loud and slow filling toilet was likely suffering from a faulty fill valve so I ordered this replacement. It arrived in a genuine Kohler box so it appears to be the real thing. Install was easy and the tank is now much quieter and fills twice as quickly. Problem solved, hopefully it lasts longer than the original part. Make sure you order the correct color valve (grey or black). I'm not sure what happens if you use the wrong color, but I had two Kohler toilets with the same issue and they had different color valves so I ordered the appropriate one for each and they are both working perfectly now. 4 stars for value as I thought this part would cost less seeing how quickly the original needed replacing.

Need Simplified Instructions
All my toilets are Kohler, but when two of the fill-valves needed to get replaced, I installed the non-Kohler brand. It was easy to install, fast filling but so loud and didn’t solve the problem until I read somebody’s post to use the parts from the same brand as the toilets, so I changed them again. He’s right, problem‘s solved, quiet but I have to be honest that it takes twice longer to refill the tank and I found the Kohler instalment instruction is not as easy as the non-Kohler one.

A great fill valve
My toilet was taking ever so long to refill after a flush. Cleaning the fill valve didn't help. I purchased this and installed it with ease but this really didn't fix the slow refill. In the end, it was the short hose that really was the cause of the problem. After replacing the hose as well, the toilet refilled faster and this valve is very quiet.
