Verilux VB05WW4 Readylight Rechargeable Led Lantern, White
This little LED lantern is too cute and works great. I purchased this as a night light for my daughter to use when she gets up in the middle of the night to get water and go to the restroom and it works great for this purpose. I charged it when I first got it for 6 hours like it says and have only had to charge it again once since I received it on 03/15/2012. It does not have a charging indicator light on it when being charged so I just charged it for the 6 hours it recommended. I really like that the light can be dimmed to different levels by pressing and holding the top of the light and that all the functions are controlled by a touch sensor. Received this item on time and in great condition.

Nice light, no method provided for hanging it however. (updated 8/9/2016)
This is a nice light as long as you have a table or some flat place to place it. Hanging it is another matter. There is nothing provided to assist you with this. I drilled two small holes in either side of the top overhanging lip and threaded some string through so that I could hang it from my EZ-UP or the inside of my tent. When it is hung in this manner and the sun is completely down, there is more than enough light so that you can see. What's good about it? - LED's are bright but they are not the super bright LED's, they are the normal white LED's that you would expect - Battery seems to last a long time. I have yet to recharge it after several overnight stays where it was used for several hours each night. - It's small and light making it easy to pack into your gearWhat would make this perfect? - A better way to hang it without having to modify it with a drill - A larger, more reflective overhang on the top would provide better spread of the light while hangingUPDATE:The battery has stopped taking a charge. With no way to change the battery this light is now dead and becomes landfill material. This makes me very unhappy and is the reason for the reduction to 1 star.

Nice, but not very bright.
I expected something bright enough to read by, but at least it's bright enough that I could find the book!

A few suggestions....
Purchased two of these for a power outage kit for around the house. Arrived very quickly. I like the adjustable light levels. Perfect for a nightlight.I only have three suggestions….1. Like others have said, a charge level indicator….maybe using the existing lamp lights….2. A hook to hang the light3. Different charging system. It would be great if the input to the light was a micro USB so you could use existing cords around your house. Now I have to find a way to keep the charging cord with the light so it doesn’t get lost. Maybe ill just keep it all in the box.

Nice and white, smaller than you think, and somewhat dim.
NOT FOR LIGHT THERAPY - it only sheds 70 lumens, and light therapy starts at many times that level.Pros:This lantern runs seemingly forever. It is quite compact. It has very white light, which really does make reading easier.Cons:LEDs are aimed downward from under the crown, which causes the two following problems:It really doesn't shed light over a very large area.It really needs to be hung to provide much useful light (we did this with a circle of string around the top and three strings from that up to a wire hanger.)We bought this for a cabin camping trip and got it in time for a winter power outage. It is small enough and light enough that the base fits easily in a child's hand. It sheds a goodly amount of light for a small electric lantern, BUT only if you manage to get that light throughout the area you want lit. That requires that the lantern be placed up high, optimally it should be hung in the middle of the room.It doesn't replace household lights, nor even propane or camp-fuel lanterns (not the wick kind, the kind with two mesh bulbs.)NOT FOR LIGHT THERAPY - it only sheds 70 lumens, and light therapy starts at many times that level.

Does a great job and easy to use and recharge.
Arrived on time and in great shape. I bought this for lighting up a dark alcove that I use as sort of a pantry. First thing I did was plugged it into my computer to charge it up. Later that night I tried it out and it works great. For being a smaller lantern it puts out a lot of light. It is easy to use and since I don't have to use it that often, I haven't had to recharge it. It has been about a month since I charged it and it still doesn't need to be recharged. So, it shows that it holds a charge very well. Very satisfied with this lantern and would recommend it to anyone. Very reasonably priced and with Amazon free shipping an even better deal.

Great in the Jungle!
I brought this to the jungle with me. We only have generator power for about 5 hours a day and limited solar power at other times. When night falls it is PITCH BLACK. I had to wake up at 4am every morning and I could not see a thing until I got my flashlight on. But its an annoying process and does not light up a room effectively unless you have the perfect placement. This gadget was wonderful. I would leave it on at the lowest setting when I went to sleep and it would have enough charge for me to turn it on full blast at 4am. It did not take long to recharge via USB either. This was one of the best purchases I made for my crazy jungle adventures.

Failed Quickly
I bought two of these and they seemed great when I tried them out briefly in August. They make nice light and although the touch controls are a bit inconsistent, they generally performed and looked good. But when I actually went to put them in use last week, one of them lit for several hours and one shut off within a half hour. I emailed the company about the one that shut off and they said I could send it back to them with a check for $6.95 and they would send me a replacement. So I ship back- about $10 and send them a check for about $7 for a unit they sell on their website for $19.95? Forget it.

Worked for a time, but don't recharge anymore
Bought three of those at the beginning of 2014. It begun well, but when I recently tried to charge all three, it simply didn't! Tryed many chargers, and cables, with no effect. So I now have 3 rechargeable lamps that don't recharge, and need to be plugged to work. Disappointed, to say the least!Contacted Verilux, and got this response : "I’m sorry to hear the lanterns have stopped working for you. They do have a 1 year warranty, so I cannot replace them, but I can offer you a discount on new ones if you’d like. Thank you.". No need to say I said No. I will buy a product from a competitor that I also bought at the time, and that still charge and work like a charm.
