Sony CMTX5CD Powerful NFC Bluetooth Speaker with CD Player

The sound.... is AMAZING. The clarity of the Bluetooth speakers certainly have come a long way.The range that I can take my device around the house is very nice. I can go downstairs with my phone keeping up with my 21st century texting needs and have the music play without any distortion. There's no static sound from being surrounded by other electronics, either (even the microwave). Though I'm sure if you have an old microwave and put it literally on top of it, it may make a sound, but I haven't had any issues with it yet.The volume range is also quite impressive. It covers all area of the house if I really want to blast it with disney music. :)It's very simple to use so that gets my stamp of approval!

Pros: good sound quality, good build quality, sleek design, ease of use, included remote control, Songpal appCons: good (but not amazing) sound quality, small display faces upward and not easily visible unless standing over the product, remote control required for full access to the device menuI ordered this for casual music listening in bedroom/office. I wanted a small, unobtrusive speaker system with bluetooth capability and good quality sound. I also wanted a remote control, which is not very common in this category - other products included the Fluence Fi30 as well as 'portable' systems like Jawbone Jambox, Oontz, etc. The Bose, B&W, and Sonos products were above my price range.The X5CD is a very good product and serves my needs perfectly. It appears to have good build quality. It sounds very good and low and medium volumes and is certainly sufficient for a medium sized bedroom. It has user-selectable equalizer presets, custom equalizer option, and a few digital sound processing presets (e.g. can mimic wide soundstage). After trying several combinations, I found that the Sony suggested preset called CA+ sounds best to my ears.Bluetooth pairing was simple and bluetooth streaming audio quality was good. The product supports AptX and AAC codecs for improved streaming sound quality.The remote control is small but contains all the functions. Conveniently, the remote's battery is pre-installed. Note that the remote control is REQUIRED to access the menu of the X5CD. Also, the X5CD can be controlled with the free Sony Songpal app from your iphone/android - the app can replicate most functions of the remote and the app can control the X5CD as long as it's already paired via bluetooth. Using the Songpal app for adjusting the equalizer and settings is far easier than using the remote and navigating through the menu via the small display.The X5CD has a small display on the top of the unit. Unfortunately this display can only be seen when the user is standing directly over the device, as the display faces upward. However, aside from initial setup, radio tuning, and sleep timer setting, the display is not necessary for regular usage.

I am looking for a CD player used in my kid's bedroom and this one is really a great product that fits all my needs.1, repeat a CD over and over - I thought it was function by default. However, my current CD player made by Panasonic does not have repeat function.2, set up wake up timer and sleep timer3, use USB flash drive to add more customized content and playlistIt is very convenient to use and the sound is pretty good for a bedroom. I do love the smart phone control APP, which makes control of the play list so easy.Actually I am thinking probably I can buy another one to replace my current CD player. :)

A week after the warranty was up the unit just quit working. While it was running it was decent, but nothing special. I wouldn't buy this product again.

Effort required in Bluetooth pairing is more than what should be.

I got this for my kids to listen to their stack of CDs and maybe play something off our iphone. So far they have used it for a week and it has been working fine, sounds pretty good, and it's minimalistic design makes it perfect for any room besides theirs. Still have to check the radio. I am very satisfied.

If I rate this for sound quality, it is 5 stars. I love it. I am not an audiophile but I think it has great tone, bass, depth, clarity. The loss of a star is because it requires the remote to do certain things (don't lose the remote) and connecting a bluetooth device for the first time is very tricky, even with instructions. But i have the hang of it now. The digital interface on top of the device looks like a 1980's calculator. But, I am still glad I got it as I wanted Sony brand for its sound quality and reputation and I am very happy with it. Appears you cannot find similar Sony device anymore that includes the CD player (my wife wanted CD player included).

amazing little CD player and a great buy at around $150. small, beautiful, basically simple to use, powerful enough for its size.but wish it didn't loose settings (reverting back to the defaults) when unplugged to use it elsewhere. and wish an app wasn't necessary to adjust many of the setting. and wish it had a earbud/headphone output jack so i could privately listen to it.

Pretty versatile product that I chose because it matches my exact needs (radio, cd player). I am not sure the sound quality is the best one can get on a bluetooth speaker, but it remains a product of overall good quality, in my opinion.

The sound is amazing. Did have issue with the remote until I changed the battery 3 timess!
