I bought the Manhattan Toy Skwish after seeing it recommended in several "must-have" baby lists, and it has honestly been one of the best investments for my little one’s development. 1. Unique Design & Sensory Engagement The first thing that stands out is the "Skwish" design. It’s made of wooden beads and rods held together by elastic ties. My baby (6months) is fascinated by how it flattens and then "skwishes" back into its original shape. It’s perfect for teaching cause and effect early on. The beads slide back and forth, making a gentle, pleasing rattle sound that isn’t annoying like some plastic battery-operated toys. 2. Perfect for Fine Motor Skills This toy is incredibly easy for tiny hands to grasp. Because of the open structure, my baby could hold it from any angle, which really boosted their confidence in grabbing and transferring objects between hands. It’s lightweight enough that they don’t get frustrated, but sturdy enough to provide a good grip. 3. Safe for Teething As a parent, I’m always worried about materials. I love that this is made of natural wood with a water-based, non-toxic finish. My baby is currently in the "everything goes in the mouth" phase, and this has become a favorite teether. The different textures of the beads and rods seem to really soothe their gums. 4. Portability & Durability We take this everywhere—in the car seat, the stroller, and to Grandma’s house. It’s surprisingly durable; even after being dropped (and thrown!) on hardwood floors multiple times, it shows no signs of wear and tear. It’s also very easy to clean with a quick wipe. 5. Pros and Cons • Pros: Enhances motor skills, visually stimulating, eco-friendly wooden material, quiet rattle sound, very durable. • Cons: Honestly, none. Just make sure to wipe it down regularly since it goes in the mouth often!

So beautiful, and our baby loves this toy! It is light enough that I don't worry about it hurting the baby whenever he smacks himself in the face with it. He likes sucking on the knobs and just looking at it. It seems well built and may last for the rest of our children. Would recommend!

I bought this for my niece when she was around three/four months and she took to it immediately. I purchased other toys but this one was her absolute favorite and it kept her entertained for long stretches at a time. She was working on her grip and this was easy for her to hold on her own. It is super lightweight. When she rotates it the wooden beads in the middle move and hit the end bead things and it makes a light sound that she enjoys. It flattens depending on how its squished. She also is chewing on the ends. I would think the wooden balls on the ends would hurt but she loves it so it probably soothes her gums. The quality of the toy is also great because she is now eight months and the toy shows no signs of wear and tear. At this point she doesn't really play with it, but it might interest again when she gets a bit older.

I am always looking for toys that are minimal yet engaging for my kids. I have had this for 4 of my kids and have loved it. It is durable, nontoxic and engaging. It keeps my 5 month old entertained.

I bought this toy right before having my baby. My husband and I were trying to go for the "natural look" when it came to baby toys (That didn't last too long). This was one of the very few uncolored, wooden toys we could find! For the first month or so, it just sat as a visually pleasing item that we liked to play with and twirl and shake in front of the baby. It held his attention pretty well, as it makes an interesting clicky noise when the beads move. Now that he's a bit older (6mo), he loves it!! He shakes it, chews on it, "skwish" it, throws it, absolutely loves it! He still likes when we twirl it and shake it for him, but when someone brings his basket of toys, it's one of the first he usually grabs. The bars are large and easy for his clumsy little hands to hold. We love that it's got a nontoxic finish and that it looks good just sitting on the table. I would definitely buy more of the natural line of toys from Manhattan toy.

I really like the design look of this toy. My kids have had no problems holding it, it is outstanding in that regard. And because of it's beauty, it looks perfectly in place in adult spaces. My infants have not spent much time with it though and I've kept it with each of our 3 (now 4 daughters). I would say with this one that it is important to put it totally away after each baby, because it didn't seem to stand up to rough housing toddlers or inquisitive older kids. I hoped to continue to pass it to each of my kids and then grandkids, as it is a beautiful toy, but the kids managed to completely mangle it and I couldn't get it to return shape, so I trashed it. Still, I would say it would be a good gift for in the moment. It is beautiful, and humans of all ages seem to enjoy looking at it at least.

L'ho preso come una sorta di amuleto. Un rimando al concetto della tensegrità, o integrità tensionale, ovvero: un sistema composto da elementi cilindrici ed elementi elastici, disposti in modo tale da stabilizzare la struttura che concorrono a creare. We absolutely love this Artful Skwish toy. Great for rattle and teether! Bought it when my baby was 7 months old, and it quickly became a favorite. The lightweight design with the strings makes it easy to grab, and the gentle sound when shaken keeps little ones engaged. We also love that it’s collapsible when pressed, adding to the fun sensory experience, more importantly it’s safe, won’t break as the strings are stretchy. We chose the artful wooden version for its classic colour look, and it’s held up beautifully, even as a deco at home! A great buy and a perfect gift for little ones! Highly recommend.
