CURT45789 7-Inch Long Trailer Hitch Extension for 1-1/4-Inch Receiver, 350 lbs, Gloss Black Powder Coat

The hitch is too big so I had to file off the paint on two sides just to get it into the receiver, and then it kept getting horribly stuck so I had to file the whole thing way down on all four sides. And the receiving end is too big so everything rattles around in it, which isn't good when you intend to use it with a bicycle rack. It makes the whole rack sway back and forth horribly. I had to get a friend to just weld it to the bike rack to make it stable. This thing is crappy, try being more precise on your measurements next time! Total pain in the butt....

If your like me, you installed a Curt tow hitch, thinking, "hey this is all I need to put a bike rack on my car." Unfortunately by the time you finish the installation on the vehicle, only then do you realize that the hitch is very much underneath the bumper, and adding a bicycle or cargo carrier is going to be a real joy to set up.Enter this extender, for the 1/4" tow hitch. This beauty handles the loads required, and gives you that extra extension needed to be able to put something on your car, without having it rub the bumper off, or bang into the trunk. I suggest, adding a locking hitch pin from Ha*bor F*eight, because the traditional pin will do extensive damage to the underside of your bumper and becomes a real pain to remove, plus no one's going to make off with your extension, with it locked up.By the way....you don't get 7" of extension, more like 4 inches, as the piece that needs to go into the hitch, eats up most of the expansion.

We have a 1.25 inch receiver and a hatch back (Subaru Outback). With the bike rack mounted the clearance was a bit too tight for our comfort. This moved the rack back just enough for us to easily open the hatch, stand between the car and the rack to retrieve helmets, shoes, water bottles etc from the back.

This hitch extender does it’s job but does not fit very snugly in the receiver so it will move around. Not sure how useful this is to people? It doesn’t come with a bolt, so make sure you have access to a good one if your towing something heavy.

I use this extension on my John Deere Gator to extend my other Curt bar beyond rear protection bars on gator. Excellent use so far and is heavy duty well made . I am very impressed with the Curt line of products.

Had a bike rack hitch installed on my Element at Uhaul. The hitch was so far under my car that not only could I not see it to put the rack on, my bike rack hit my car. Thought an easy solution was to buy this extension. It did not not come with a pin, much less a clip. Back to the store to find something to hold it on. It's a little wobbly and now that I have a 40 lb ebike I see more movement than I am accustomed to on this Thule rack. Bought a tightener, but since I have to transfer the rack between cars, it has become a kerfuffle. Should have taken it back to Uhaul, but time was not on my side.

Product was as expected. Quality and fast delivery even if if was delivered to the wrong place! Driver must have neglected to read the delivery information and dropped it to the front house not the rear as stated in directions. 2 days earlier a didderent item was left in the correct place. I'm guessing this driver is the one that left his van in the road facing oncoming traccic with the flashers on. A side street that is fine but a busy road like previously caused traffic problems and a possibly disastrous outcome. I bet it was the younger guy!

This was not expensive, but it's loose--and because it is a solid billet of metal, not hollw, there's no way to insert a tightening nut. Too bad.

Fit and finish is excellent, as is the Curt hitch I ordered earlier. The price is for this is unjustifiable for such a simple piece of metal.I bought it anyway.Zero options.

Solide mais il y a du jeu du coté femelle de cette barre. Mon porte vélo bouge d'environ un pouce à hauteur des guidons de vélo. Aucun jeu par contre dans l'attelage.

Pour rallonger l'attache pour faciliter le transport de vélos.

Produit exactement comme décrit. L’extension permet d’ouvrir le coffre arrière de ma Honda Civic 2015 sans accrocher les poignées de mon vélo qui sont sur un support arrière horizontal. Très stable.
