Great way to learn colors, matching and work on small motor skills.
I purchased this for our two year old son for quiet time fun and to learn to match colors. We do the activity together and he has certain pictures he likes more than others. He does not have the attention span to finish the whole picture, but he loves doing this activity. We do store it in its original box, and I put the pieces in a zip lock bag and then store it on a closet shelf. He does let me know when he wants to do this activity, so it is interesting to a two year old. The pieces are hard to get through the holes at first, so you may want to push them through when you first get it to "break it in." I plan on purchasing another one of these for a family member since I think its a wonderful activity to do with your toddler / preschooler to learn colors.

I think that this is a wonderful toy and activity for toddlers ages 2 to 3 ...
I think that this is a wonderful toy and activity for toddlers ages 2 to 3 but the reason I am giving it a three star is because the color variation from paper to peg is too vast for a child to comprehend. The paper/pattern board has purple in it when it is suppose to be blue. I tried not to bring it to my two year olds attention but then when I am trying to teach her colors it is so hard to explain that the paper is purple but that she should push in the blue pegs.My six year old daughter walked by us using this activity and asked me why the color is purple when it is supposed to be blue. It is just too obvious of a difference.I don't want to confuse my child on colors by doing this. In amazon's pictures the blue appears to be blue so I am not sure if its just a certain batch that was produced that had a problem with their colors or if all of them are like this.I also wish that it had a lid so that it would be easier to store it and keep the pieces together. If there wasn't a color variation problem I would be very happy with this product and would highly recommend it to others!I have included a picture to show the variation (but this was taken inside and under light so you cannot see the purple/blue color problem as bad as it is in the day but it is still noticeable.)I am a big fan of all Melissa and Doug Products. They seem to be the only 'toys' that can keep my kids interests for years (rather than a week) and this has so far been the only product of theirs that I have ever had a problem with.Update: I contacted Melissa and Doug and they were prompt to send me out a replacement without color issues! I am updating my review to five stars because my 2 year old thoroughly loves this toy.Me, well I LOVE it too because this is one of my favorites for quiet time when I need to sit down and have a cup of tea while my two year old is having a blast doing her "work" as she calls it.

Great toy for wide age range of young kids, educational
This toy is great to use in my therapy sessions, from 3 yr olds up to 8 yr olds. Works great as fine motor activity and work on color skills. One drawback s having to work a little hard to remove all the pegs before you can do the next picture, but guess that it just inherent in this type of toy. Easy to build up confidence in kids when at first they struggle but with some help they can quickly master the skill of pushing pegs in. Overall pretty great!

Perfect for our 4 year old!
Awesome Melissa and Doug quality! Our 4 year old has ASD and loves to play with this. The snaps are great for motor coordination. He likes to choose which picture he wants to use and plays independently after a few instructions on how to use. Comes with a wooden case to hold the picture your are working on. Durable picture cards with color picture on one side and black and white on the other side. Snaps are thick plastic and snap into the holders on the picture. Snaps come in blue, green, red and yellow. We love Melissa and Doug!

A wonderful gift for little ones to encourage fine motor skills.
Love this set. We got this for our son who does OT and they use this in their office. It comes with 64 pegs and a variety of colorful (or flip the card and get the black & white version) pictures. It sits in a wooden box that makes it easy to press the pegs in. When it's time to remove the pegs my son can pull them out, or stick his finger through the back and pop them out. It's therapeutic and relaxing, even I enjoy putting them together. Even if you're child is not in therapy it's great for little hands and encourages fine motor skills.

Great value for hours of use
Bought as a gift for my 2 year old niece. She easily caught on independently and it has occupied her wonderfully.

Great toy for my 2
Great toy for my 2.5 year old on many levels. It does require supervision as he did tear one of the pages. They are not paper thin, but thin enough to tear if they are rough.
