Quality RAM
My old Core2Duo Quad machine has been serving me reliably for years, and I'm just not ready to put her to the grave just yet. I've already breathed a little more life into her with a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 660 OC and now decided to upgrade my machine from 4 GB RAM to 8 GB. The specs of these sticks were identical to the outgoing sticks I have in my machine, with the exception of twice the memory. Problem is the price was a little high, at $70 for 4 GB it cost me $140 to upgrade. I could have probably just upgraded to 6 GB but I figured I'd go all out before I make the jump to a new machine.Getting the RAM I noticed the quality of the Corsair sticks. They have a heatsink like my old sticks, but the design changed a little, since my old sticks were also the XMS2 brand. The heatsink was a little less robust looking, but had some sharp silver stripes going across the top. They were also a little less bulky. They snapped into my motherboard quite nicely, although I didn't snap a stick down securly and it failed to get to POST. Oops. Quickly remedied and my computer booted up quickly. Despite doubling the amount of RAM my machine didn't seem any faster, but that was to be expected with the same 800MHz speed and latency timings of 5-5-5-18. A little overclock may help but I'm not looking to do that now. I did notice a slight boost in some games, especially some RAM heavy games such as some RTS games and Max Payne 3. 4 GB is barely the minimum on most games now and the extra RAM certainly is felt.+Pros:+Sturdy, solid build quality.+Heatsink should improve longevity.+Speed increased noticed in some games.+Easy to install.-Cons:-Very pricy, especially compared to DDR3 RAM.-No increase in speed during most regular computer operations. With DDR2 almost completely dead, I'm not surprised I couldn't find many options for RAM. I probably would have stuck with the Corsair sticks since my old sticks have been nothing but good to me for years, it would have been nice to have some more options. The price was a hit on my wallet, but since I plan on pushing this machine out for about another year, it was worth the investment. Even with some great chipsets out there, such as the i5's and i7's, I just couldn't make the jump with Intel ramping up some 8 core processors and AMD talking 12 cores! If you're on the border like me and want that last little upgrade after a video card, definitly take the hit and go for the larger amount of RAM.

Wish I could give it five stars!
First and foremost... it saddens me that I cannot give this product five stars. The reason being is that it is common to receive a defective stick. This seems to be easily overlooked due to Amazons most awesome return process. A couple clicks online and a repackage. Placed the package on my front porch and UPS came and picked it up. In less than two weeks the refund was fully credited to my account. By that time I already had a second pair ordered and installed. On another note... this RAM is a huge value for the money. Let me say that its weird that Corsair would void their lifetime warranty if you claim the rebate. BUT, if you receive the RAM in good working condition. It would be improbable that any defect would ever occur to have to use the warranty. Most warranty claims are from product being defective upon purchase. RAM doesn't usually go bad unless its an "operator error", and in that case Corsair wouldn't warranty it anyways. If you are looking for a solution to your DDR2 Ram needs, this is it. If you are running 32 bit windows, buy one kit and use only that pair of RAM. If you are running 64 bit... buy two and use only those two pairs of RAM. This RAM should be compatible with any board with DDR2 slots. NOTE... not all RAM is compatible with all RAM. This is why I say to use only this. This RAM is PC6400 and has a max speed of 800mhz. Your board will either use all of this... or downspeed your RAM to the boards max speed. At this value its not cheaper to buy the lower speed DDR2. If you use this RAM with other compatible RAM of a lesser speed. Your board should downspeed it to the slower RAMS speed. Which is why I would suggest using only this RAM to keep the higher 800mhz DDR2 speed. And seriously 4GB of RAM is plenty for most any application. I run an old E6600 on a i975x with one kit of this corsair, windows 7 32 bit. And its plenty fast enough for anything. I ran just one of this RAM sticks for awhile single channel, just for giggles. Then added the other a week later. There wasn't much difference in day to day use of the PC.BUY THIS RAM!

Fast and Stable Memory
I bought 2 sets of these for an ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard with an Intel E6600 dual core CPU, running 64 bit windows 7, for a total of 8 gb memory (4x2gb). I was running 4 gb (4x1gb) of OCZ DDR2667 that ran fine for most everything. I just wanted to extend the life of my system to still play the latest games without having to do a complete overhaul to an i5 or i7 processor and ddr3 memory. Someday, just not yet.I did quite a bit of research. Originally I was going to go with one of the lesser brand names to save a couple bucks but I know how picky Asus boards can be when it comes to memory, so I went with the brand I have always associated with high performance gaming memory, Corsair, and I am glad I did. They may cost a little more than some of the other brands but the extra $$ is worth it. Peace of mind knowing you have the good stuff. The 20 dollar rebate is a nice bonus too. They arrived well packaged in bubble wrap and not damaged, in 5 days with the free super saver shipping option. First thing I noticed as I took them out of the packaging was how they looked and felt. Sleek yet sturdy. The heat spreaders are not very thick or bulky but they cover most of the memory stick with the exception of the contacts. I posted 2 pics on how these look in my case on the motherboard. Very easy to install. I booted into the bios to make sure that all 8 gb were recognized @ 800 mhz, and I did not have to change any timings or voltage (it's probably a good idea to make sure you have the latest bios update before installing these). My games now run noticeably smoother. 64 bit Windows 7 loves more memory and if you're looking for 800 mhz DDR2 memory, get these before they are gone!Just an FYI I am playing Rift, EQ2, Lotro, Half Life 2, STALKER, and other assorted online and offline games.

Good Performance - Corsair 4GB 800MHz C5 DDR2 Memory Kit
I built my PC back in 2007 on a strict budget. Therefore at the time I could only afford 1GB total RAM (in the form of 2 x 512MB XMS2 Corsair matched pair RAM sticks). This was OK but my system was a bit slow. I also had issues recently that my system would not boot properly or suddenly crash. I thought that this could be due to a faulty RAM chip, so I decided to upgrade. I decided to purchase this product as it has the same chipset (XMS2) as I already had in my system. My system is now thrice as fast as before! I would certainly recommend upgrading RAM to at least 3GB for any system and this RAM does the job. I now have 5GB of RAM in my system, but don't forget 32bit Operating Systems (OS) can only use 3GB. When a system is upgraded to a 64bit OS it can then use all the available memory. Therefore don't go mad buying all the memory under the sun.

Corsair is a very safe choice for stability.
Took over a week to arrive but it was pre-xmas time. Memory was installed and tested using memtest86. It passed all tests with zero errors. Computer hasn't crashed at all (not that it did before) and this is a good sign. DDR2 memory is about 3 times the cost of DDR3 memory at the time of writing. I have choosen to stick with my machine buying 8Gb of this memory in the hope of missing out DDR3 memory altogether and buying a new mainboard when DDR4 memory comes out in 1-2 years. I am a gamer with a quad core 3Ghz processor and it works just fine with high frame rates with COD and WOW. In this, it made sense to buy 8Gb of this memory as 8Gb is more than ample for games and is likely to be so for at least two years.

Expensive and first set was faulty, poor show Corsair
The first time I tried these in my PC the system would not boot at all, it would not even allow me to get into the BIOS! By a process of elimination I worked out that one of the modules was faulty, because I could boot up with one 2GB module but not with the other one.I returned the whole set and awaited the replacement, the replacment modules worked ok and there were no problems booting up.However, given the price of these (expensive) and previous reviews I'm not sure how long they will last and when I next buy a new motherboard I will NOT be buying Corsair memory. Manufacturers need to do much more rigorous testing of these modules before they are shipped. Not a satisfactory experience, and Corsair are now at the bottom of my list of "Quality" manufacturers.

Good but maybe a typo
Please correct me if I am wrong but I was always told that W7 32 bit could only address 3Gb of ram and that is exactly what my Dell XPS came with.As I was upgrading the system and going to W7 64 bit I thought I would upgrade the ram. My ram score on the windows experience index was 5.9. with the Dell (2 X 1Gb and 2 X 512Mb ram modules) Using these new ones I now have 6GB (the original 2 X 1 Gb and these shiny new 2 X 2 Gb). The experince index has gone to 7.1 but the whole machine feels quicker especialy with processing video. The title states Twin2X4096. Surely this is a typo and you do get 2x2048 which is what I expected.Edit: I see the typo has been corrected.

Brilliant memories!
I found this product to be as good as I can expect from a design perspective - it does what it says on the tin and has allowed me to upgrade my computer and play games at higher quality settings. I had 3GB before, adding these has given me and extra .25GB in Win XP but as they are higher frequency (800Mhz as opposed to 667Mhz), I was able to play games at better settings without a performance hit. In Win 7 64 bit, I get the full benefit of these sticks and Crysis plays much better! The only down side is you can forget about trying to OC these sticks, PC won't boot up with these at a fraction above 800Mhz
