Incredible album worth every penny
This album is, without a doubt, spectacular. Whether you like rock, reggae, or rap, you won't be disappointed. "Star On The Rise" is one of my favorite songs of all-time, "Surrender" is very dear to me, "Vow Of Silence" gets me pumped up every time I hear it, and "Hard Way" is perhaps one of the deepest songs I've ever heard in my life. This album speaks to me, and if you're a seeker it'll speak to you as well. Matis is a chameleon - once you think you have him figured out, he switches his style up and pulls you in all over again.

It is so beautiful. The lyrics are like poetry
I have been a huge Matisyahu fan for a long time. The new album feels more raw and in the moment emotional. I am glued to listening to it. It is so beautiful. The lyrics are likepoetry. There are more moments of what Iintetpret as sadness, but only he knows. Ifyou like his music for the upbet songs thatwere mainly found on Light and Spark Seekerand are uncomfortable with emotionsperhaps just buy the songs you know you like. For me, that is something I love aboutMatisyahu, his willingness to share hisjourney with all of us. This album doesntsound like any other album of his or anyoneI've ever heard. That is great. I personallydon't want music to stay the same. Thatwould mean the artist isn't growing andchanging and that is what life is about. Itwould also mean I am not gowing andchanging. The songs are deep and heartfeltand much slower on average. Like most of hismusic it has helped me through some pain. His voice sounds clear and beautiful. I absolutely recommend it. I love it.

No, it is not the Matisyahu of old, but somewhere in there you find some of his old style. This album to me was very diverse, he has the slow the sad, and then the more upbeat songs. I just about enjoyed every song and how different they were from one another. Very happy with this album, and a better direction from Spark Seeker.Enjoy!

sweet album! you won't be disappointed!
For starters if you're a fan you need to this album I mean just sample listen to a few of the tunes on this album and I promise you won't be disappointed. This album has a combination of reggae, slow jams, and sweet riffs and beautiful and heart wrenching lyrics that basically pull the insides of Matis soul and leave them on these tracks. I feel like each of his songs reveal layer upon layer of Matis journey in life, family, and religion. Matis in my opinion is a stronger more grounded musician/artist because of the transitions and leaps he's taken in his music career. There's a few tracks that feature other artists that I wasn't familiar with but collaboration was stellar! One of my favorite tracks on this album is "Vow of Silence," and "Champion," and "Sick for So Long." Matis identifies with David, Abraham and Isaac and Joseph and like Matis these men travailed and become who they were meant to be. And the moral of their stories is that the father never cut them off of the tree but they remained and they were blessed. The building of our character is through the trials and the sifting that we allow to take place. We can change every day who we are and who we want to be, we're changed from glory to glory, and we can finish this race with our battle wounds and scars...but the evolving of ourselves only takes place if we choose to change. This is the truth my friend.Blessings & SHALOM!

Another home run by my brother from another mother.
LOL yeah ok I just purchased Matisyahu's new album Akida. Typical Matis freaking pounding rhymes and stylin poetry. That young man has some fat skills I must say. I have not pirated a single album of his that's how much I dig his music. . I do try and support the artists I find are truly worth my money. The skills this young man shows off on this new album are a tribute to Hashem. Nice to see someone with true moral character leading other artists and showing them they can have success and still hold their morals up and give tribute to someone other than the god money. WELL DONE SIR WELL DONE!!!

The music is five stars but...
I feel the need to point out some issues with the quality of the vinyl album. First. The album is advertised as allowing you to download digital files of the music, but the instructions on how to do so are not included. Also the actual cut of the vinyl record is very bad. Album is uneven, the hole in the center of the album is slightly jagged and the shape of the record almost appears slightly distorted. I would recommend just buying the MP3 album, or even the CD. There are definite issues with the actual vinyl release.

Not the Matisyahu I knew from before. No beat-boxing ...
Not the Matisyahu I knew from before. No beat-boxing in this album there are only 2 or 3 songs that are really memorable. Everything else was kind of half-produced and sold on the basis that he has a name brand established. Even the lyrics were not as political or deep as I remember them being originally. I will be surprised if he makes another album after this, honestly.

It's a great CD if you can listen to it very open-mindedly
Obstacles and Reservoir are worth it, alone. It's a great CD if you can listen to it very open-mindedly. I wrote it off as a failure due to a bad remix, but later ended up loving it.
