I want a cabin!
Ok, we are in! This book is inspiring us to save to build a cabin, have our Mtn. Property & improvements paid off, now for the cabin. Keep on our coffee table in our family room to dream. Ok the cabins in this book are more than what we will build, but still like this book

NOT a cabin in the woods
If you think this book is about cabins in the woods-DON'T BUY IT. There are no cabins here: this book glorifies those over-the-top multi-million dollar excrescences (Webster: an abnormal outgrowth) oh-so-tastefully hidden in the formerly pristine backcountry of the west. It might more accurately be titled "Monstrous, Extravagant Log Structures in the Western Wayback" . All the photographs seem to attempt a warm, fireside light, but achieve a yellowish-red that obscures detail. I have lived in an honest 1854 Texas log cabin for 11 years, and it has little in common with what folks in our ordinary world might consider the habitations of an alien life form. Having said that, it could be a 'dream book' for a certain type of reader to place on the coffee table. I had hoped for something relevant to cabins, with photographs of cabin-sized rooms and clever use of space. Mr. Kylloe does make pretty books, though.

Only for the very rich, but beautiful to look at
Unless you have a lot of money, you'll probably never be able to build anything you see in this book, but if you're able to vicariously enjoy what the wealthy can build, you will indeed enjoy this book; it's beautiful and inspiring, as all things beautiful are.

not a 'cabin in the woods'
I'm giving this book two stars mainly for the photos. They are very nice photos but they tell of homes that are not what the title of the book suggests. "Cabin in the Woods" should have been titled " Mountain Homes For The Wealthy". It is more of a very formal brochure for wealthy clients who are looking to build architecturally designed mountain homes to give them some ideas for their million plus dollar homes. Several of these homes are on the prairies of Montana where there are no woods around for miles. To be fair, there were one or two examples that might have come close to what depicts a cabin but were considered weekend retreats and were built or added on to with original old buildings. Those who live in these homes would not be found near what a real cabin is. I am sending my book back because for the most part, it really has nothing to do with cabins, in the woods or anywhere else.

Beautiful photography. Can hardly wait to sit down and digest all the photographs.

yellow
Will someone please beat this man with a stick and take away his yellow filter and indian blankets. All the outdoor photo's are very nice and clear. All the interior shots would leave one to believe every cabin or rustic home is lit by yellow lamps, and has a colorfull blanket draped in every room. Enough already. I have all his books and do enjoy the homes and cabins, but am sick of his constant use of yellow filters. Like having to much cleavage showing, no one wants to tell that person. Someone please tell this man his yellow cleavage is showing. Without the filter his book deserves a 5.

Miserable Fotos
Sämtliche Fotos haben einen heftigen Orange-Stich. Was auf dem Cover noch heimelig wirkt, nervt im Buch nur noch und macht die Wirkung der an sich schönen Fotos kaputt.
